First topic message reminder :

With this forum taking off I think it's time for the second official 606V2 POUND FOR POUND Top 15 rankings.

Rules:
Only 1 post per 606 member.
Only active fighters allowed (Floyd Mayweather has been rendered active, but this is at the discretion of respective posters)
Outlandish listing’s will be DQ (so please keep your listings sensible)

Principles:
Your Top 15 should be based as at the current point in time.

Point Scoring System:
Quite simple, #1 scores 15 points, #2 scores 14 points etc… I will tally up the totals by the deadline date and will present the results (using my Excel wizardry).

NOTE: PLEASE TRY AND USE THE FULL CORRECT SPELLING.

For the record, the previous Top 15 606v2 rankings as at 18th April 2011 was:

1  Manny Pacquciao. (1)
2  Sergio Martinez (3)
3  Nonito Donaire. (5)
4  Floyd Mayweather Jr. (2)
5  Juan Manuel Marquez (4)
6  Yuriorkis Gamboa (T17)
7  Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (14)
8  Timothy Bradley (12)
9  Wladimir Klitschko (7)
10  Carl Froch (13)
11  Giovanni Segura. (23)
12  Bernard Hopkins (8.)
13  Chris John (15)
14  Andre Ward (9)
15  Vitali Klitschko (16)

I expect changes given we are now judging the top 15 as opposed to the top 10

Deadline Date: Wednesday 27th July 2011 6pm

Many Thanks for taking part in this exercise, looking forward to the end result!

He's rated number at 154lbs thusly http://ringtv.craveonline.com/ratings/jr-middleweight

So being regarded as the man isn't actually that important is what your trying to say, it's more a case of who you beat?

Well done on schooling me, you did a really good job of it

You are chopping and changing your argument to suit your point.

Please explain why Ortiz, who by your own listing is only the third best at his weight (hence nowhere near being the man) can be rated higher than Cotto who clearly has the better career wins and acheivements.

The likes of Donaire, Khan, Bradley, Ward, Froch etc all have valid arguments to be ranked ahead but I certainly cant see Ortiz or Haye having a better claim.

I have Ortiz in my list and there's no place for Cotto. Granted I couldn't place him higher than #15. I think he's come back well from the Maidana loss, should have got the nod against Peterson and the Berto win is better than any of Cotto's recent wins. Add to that, that he has the biggest fight of his career coming up then his stock has never been higher. Sneaks into a top 15 for me.

Still cant get over Mayweather being number 4. He will probably drop to about number 10 now given so many are not including him. Think there should be guidelines as to whether he should be included or not as to have him placed outside the two just doesnt make sense. Im removing him anyway until he fights Ortiz.

1. Pacquiao
2. Donaire
3. Martinez
4. Marquez
5. Wlad Klitschko
6. Bernard Hopkins
7. Tim Bradley
8. Yuriorkis Gamboa
9. Andre Ward
10. Carl Froch
11. Vitali Klitschko
12. Amir Khan
13. Pongsaklek Wonjongkam
14. Giovani Segura
15. Chris John

Lots of debate but not many posts! Last chance today to submit your votes!

For the time being Mayweather has been rendered active as he due to fight in September. However, this is a subjective matter and is at the discretion of individual posters!

not to do with my list just a positive look to the future but in about 6 months the p4p list could be:

1.pacquiao
2.mayweather
3. martinez
4. donaire
5. marquez
6. klitschko
7. bradley/khan winner
8. wonjongkam
9. segura
10. froch/ward

that will not necessarily be the order but if donaire beats number 2 rated moreno in that time, the p4p top 10 could have 8 ring champs (martinez, marquez, donaire, klitschko, ward/froch, khan/bradley, wonjongkam and segura), meaning at most weights there will be a main man

He hasn't beaten anyone of note at 154 or beat the man at 154 so I struggle to understand how he can be number one...Also before looking at my list take a look at your own what has Rios who is a talented fighter done to be in the top 15...Yes I schooled you ghosty I did not find you challenging at all. Cotto's form has been poor for the last 3 years to be in the top 15...Ortiz is coming off a win over the highly rated Berto.

Please explain how you've schooled me PBF, Cotto is currently considered to be the number one at 154lbs whether you agree or not is barely important.

As for Berto being highly rated so was Yuri Foreman before he lost to Cotto.

Rios is that high based on the fact the talent simply isn't there to make an overly strong 15 and who has Haye beaten recently to be ranked so highly?

oxring wrote:Not everyone would have Khan "the man". Haye was the man at CW some 4 years ago. If we're including Cotto's past CV then we're including the WW decision over Mosley and the great run at LWW surely. If we're being consistent.

No arguments regarding Vitali and Wlad having been "the man", nor Ward, Froch, Gamboa or Donaire.

However - Ortiz - much as I like the kid, quit at 140 and did very well to beat Berto - who was NOT p4p at 147. Foreman was "highly rated" - Cotto, who is not a natural light middle by any means schooled him.

Your list is full of double standards - and I would disagree with it. Cotto is p4p top 15 for sure.

Cotto so called great run at 140 saw him duck Floyd Mayweather, Hatton and Tszyu...Dont see great things at 140 when you avoid fighting the best...Cotto was top 10 after beating Mosley but not anymore after being embarrassed twice.

Foreman was not highly rated, Berto was though...No double standards from me.

You only say top 15 for Cotto because you want to big up Pacquiao. thumbsup

Slightly hypocritical when you rate a win over Andre Berto so highly would you not agree?

Hahaha you include Rios based on talent...why not put Gary Russell there then...Haye's record is superior to Rios...Face it ghosty you have more holes in your argument then me.

Foreman the non punching fighter was not higly rated like Berto.

Cotto does not deserve or should be number one at 154.

Rios has beaten 3 divisional rivals something Haye has not done nor has he lost a fight to the first challenge he's had in said division, I have not included Rios based on talent but rather the fact that overall the final 5 places are going to be held by less than stellar fighters.

Foreman was highly rated hence why it was seen as a tough fight for Cotto just after being destroyed by Pacquiao and why does the fact that Foreman isn't a big puncher matter? Calderon couldn't punch but he was highly rated in p4p lists until he lost to Segura.

Haye beat the champ in Valuev and former champ in Ruiz...Rios has not beaten his so called divisional rivals yet but carry on deluding yourself into thinking Rios should be above Haye in the P4P rankings.

Calderon was P4P, Foreman was not and never will be...Bad point again Ghosty.

Antillon and Acosta were both divisional rivals, a former 2 time world title challenger and a former world champion, mentioning the likes of Valuev and Ruiz shows how weak Hayes opposition has been neither have ever been any good.

Was Berto P4P then or am I missing something here?

When Rios beats someone like Guerrero and Marquez then put him as P4P but if you seriously think Rios record is better than Haye's then I feel very sorry for you

Please do carry on teaching me PBF but if you regard Hayes recent record of:

Klitschko- Loss
Harrison- Win
Ruiz- Win
Valuev- Win

Worthy of being rated highly then that's your prerogative but for the time being i'll consider Rios' recent record to be better:

Antillon- Win
Acosta- Win
Peterson- Win
