A couple of us did one earlier in the year with the usual rounds - Sport, Science, History etc. This time I'm doing it myself and trying to make it more interesting. Rounds like 'Alphabet Street', 'Let Me Count The Ways', 'Cult Heroes'. Teams get to play a double-points Joker on one round so I don't want to make it obvious which one to choose.
I'll PM you some of the last ones - do you want the answers first time round or do you want to have a go at them?
Ill have a go first Jules as a few of my quiz buddies would probably like to also.
I tend to do a current affairs, link round (last letter of previous answer is first letter of next) connections, and then a random round like the ones youhaev(I think he means "have", Jules) suggested, like Palindromes, Cryptic, three letter answers etc, so always up for new ideas for that round...
I wish you'd told me this earlier, rick. I've just passed 42624. Triple buggery!
The next palindrome for me is out beyond the Kuiper Belt... past Neptune and way, way beyond Uranus.
Not sure what the Kuiper Belt is but isn't your next palindrome 42724?

Ah. Wasn't sure if it was that or what keeps the Kuiper children on the straight and narrow.

You're thinking of the Tino belt - which is what Tino's kids use to keep him on the straight and narrow.

The Kuiper belt is a horseshit name for a Fantasy Team though.

Morning mate.
Oh, it's for sean. We'll need to put our heads together.
I'm sure we can up with something like Soggy Cucumber Sandwiches or Wicked Pitch.
But it's for a fantasy football team isn't it?

Pretty crap standard so didn't bother. Went to sweep one and bottom edged it into the ground and up on to my chin. Lucky really, an inch higher and I would have undoubtedly had a fat lip like when Tino's 3 year old decked him.

Once played with a guy who tried a forward defensive shot and the ball hit the very top of the handle and flew straight up into his nose, which figuratively exploded. Not pretty. He wanted to carry on but got dragged off to the 'orspital.

He was a fan of the show Rick, so you could well be on to something. He could also be Arlene Martel, who acheived fame as playing the prospective bride of Spock in the original series of Star Trek.

Re: The Culture Cup Round 6 - new but not really improved
So michaels, who do you have in your fantasy football team?
Mine is as follows :
GK - Howard
DF - Felipe Luis, Lovren, Mangala
MF - Barkley, Ramsey, Sanchez, Young
FW - Rooney, Diego Costa, Pelle
Bench : Given, Javi Garcia, Bruce, Targett
I would now expect at least half of that lot to get injured during the next couple of days.

Who have you done it with Union? And can anyone be bothered to set up a culture cup league? Believe the sky one is free. Tina hates football, but suspect he would join in, subject to him not being any of the dead celebrities thus far named.

Its the official Premier League one :

I've done mine under my real proper name though, so the shroud of enigmatic mystery would be removed.

That's enough evidence for me. Round up the mob, fetch the pitchforks, there is a nonce needs hounding out of town.

The Oxford English Dictionary, while describing the word's etymology as "Origin unknown", states that it is "perhaps related to" nance and cites a quotation which claims the word was derived from nancy-boy (a derogatory term referring to effeminate or homosexual males). It also suggests that it may derive from the nonse, Lincolnshire dialect for "good-for-nothing fellow".[1]
Linguist Jonathon Green suggests the word derives from nonsense. He quotes a reference from 1970 citing "nonces" as being short for "nonsenses" and an additional citation from 1999.[3]

The definition I gave was supplied to me by a policewoman who stated that this was how the force described it.
As I believe that this is how the word went into the public lexicon at "Street" level, It is the most likey to have credence as the etymology of modern usage rather the the OED version...
