But Walsh was right. Yellow for repeated infringements at the maul. Then they carried on, after being warned by him that he'll send another.

Thought the second yellow was harsh as WELL as the penalty try. Give them the try sure, but the YC is then surely not necessary.

You have to say though, this really does typify mindset between SH and NH

17-0 down, penalty 35 yards out, not in the game yet and EVERY NH team takes the 3 gets on the board and plays from there, All 3 SH teams play the corner to get back into the game and confident of their abilities!

You have been cynical of Wales before the whistle blew and shut up when we were 17-0 up, only to start your BS up again. I find that unnecessary and uncalled for too savvy.

We just need Liam Williams to manage the kick off - then get the ball off the park ASAP and get Biggar back on

First half sums up Wales to a T - capable of some very good play and equally capable of fecking it all up!!

They need to learn how to maul and defend against mauls. It's becoming comical how they can get unraveled in the blink of an eye by the simple act of catching and driving.

Are you kidding, I had written Wales off before the game, commended their try then actually said I'd be eating my words before their niaivity on their own line. Let's keep our emotions and foul language in check and we'll get on fine, I have no interest in arguing with posters.

I really don't understand why AWJ didn't stand up and say that it isn't working and just get everyone to hold off the maul and force them to spin it wide or get penalised for truck and trailer

Wales know they can steal this if they play to their ability. S Africa made double the tackles Wales made in that half. The turnovers had S Africa 1 up on Wales so nothing in that area. Calm heads and we have a chance.

Wales back line matches SA for physicality, nous and finishing abilities (as an entire unit) but once again platform will be everything.

The breakdown is going to be key, looking at the options in both packs...

Du plessis will put his head in anywhere and is murder to shift,
That back row will flood and physically damage given half the chance!!!

Jenkins and owens are always a bit of a threat given half the chance
Wales back row has a silky ball carrier, a chopper and turn bull who makes andy Powell look effective, there is literally no breakdown nous there whatsoever.

If Wales speed the game up they'll be susceptible to turnovers and breakaway tries, if they slow the game down they'll go narrow, and nowhere.

The line out will be dominated by SA, steins kicking game is superior, not to mention le roux's 2nd option, and the scrum will be scrappy and a free for all.

Wales cannot win this game.

Not Cynical at all. picard

SA have the momentum, we need another 10 minutes like when we score the 2 tries

It takes some stones to stand off a maul on your own try line hoping the ball carrier doesn't plough through to score, he is allowed an adjustment after all.

I think the issue was Wales didn't know what to do, falatau challenged the previous, Jenkins was sacking single handed lay while everyone else were looking at each other in confusion. Have to blame leadership, and tactical set up from Gatland, surely they have a plan to deal with the best maul in the world?

I agree with the Penalty Try but thought the second yellow was not necessary.  Despite being against 13 men, the Boks second try was Rugby at its most beauteous.  That leRoux dude is a player-and-a-half.

Will be interesting to see if the Boks can maintain the pressure agaisnt 15 men.

Rainbow, just to adress your concerns, I am not cynical with regards to Wales. Chances, they have never beaten SA in SA and are on a 15-0 run against them, that's pretty realistic view per game.

But I will hold my hands up and say Wales have been far better than expected, I thought they'd be strong but not able to score points, however they are in no way control of this game, and I expect SA to come out on top, sorry if that offends you.

Love what Wales are doing. Got the Boks well and truly rattled, so that they're spurning kicks at goal.

SA are just trying to force a physical advantage now, looking for contact and looking to hurt, if they get too focused on that though Wales may take advantage.

Wales have to be error free now, gifting possession on half way will be trouble

Correct call by Walsh

EDIT: If Wales don't win this it's going to be a right kick in the ball sack

Think Walsh has been very good to be honest, clear and fair

He's more involved than I'd like....but I think Walsh is making the right calls.

I thought a yellow there was unlucky, although I can see why it was given.

I'm someone who thinks a jumper puts himself in the air, and lifting from a restart should be on the players back, they've put themselves up there by choice, they should be challenged.

I missed the replay, but caught the last one, yellows about right, what's the thought process from lifting a leg though, everyone knows how touchy refs are when players are in the air.

Even when I haven't agreed with Walsh, I have always understood his decisions - Which is all I ask for in a ref

Wales need to keep some ball now and play like they did in the first half. If they try and hang on to this lead they WILL lose.
