With so much debate and so many knowledgable posters I think it's time to vote for the TOP 10 606 Greatest Pound for Pound fighters of all time!

If each 606 poster could kindly post their respective Top 10 greatest fighters of all time to take part in this exercise.

Rules:
Only 1 post per 606 member.
Fighters from any era are allowed.
Outlandish listings will be DQ'd (so please keep your listings sensible)


Point Scoring System:
Quite simple, #1 scores 10 points, #2 scores 9 points etc… I will tally up the totals by the deadline date and will present the results.

I'm interested by the amount of posters that rank Joe Louis as their No.1 Heavyweight ahead of Ali but choose not to include Louis in an ATG top 10 P4P but choose to include Ali. Not saying that's wrong, just interested as to why? Is it because of the P4P aspect of the list?

But I change this list practically every day - sometimes Ali and Louis slip down the list, with the likes of Leonard (B), Jeanette, Monzon, Wilde moving up.

my top ten are more modern that most posted, but ive not seen many of the old time fights so not included many that im sure are well worthy- but IMO is.

Interesting list. May I ask why, of those fighters, RJJ sneaks in at 9th, whereas Tyson manages to make 3rd? For all that I have criticised RJJ, he was amazing in his prime.

What has Froch done to be listed amongst these luminaries? He's an exciting fighter, but compared with Hopkins/DLH/Trinidad/JCC/Whittaker/Holyfield/Barrera/Marquez/Morales/Calzaghe...I'm not sure that Froch's record/style stands up. He's a really exciting fighter, but not ATG p4p top 10 surely?

I'm a bit like Eddie really, haven't seen enough of the older fighters. so from the fighters i've watched extensivley. Here's my personal ten.

yeah to be honest my list is slightly unfair, but i've seen 4-5 of RJJ fights and one of them was the calzaghe fight, whereas ive seen most of tysons fights, thats why he's above- holyfield nearly made it on the list, but his really should have stopped sooner, doing himself no justice. froch made the list because he CV is very impressive for todays fighters, and i think if he had the exposure he deserved the he would be much bigger and a houseehold name. i gave froch the decision against kessler as well, so dont count that against him. morrales and barrera also were considered but again not seen enough- showing my age i guess (im 23)

That's fair enough Eddy, I was in the same position when I first started posting on the original 606 which was years ago albeit and I went through the IBRO's top 20 one by one studying up on them. Jofre for instance was someone whom i'd never heard of but when you look at his fights, his style and his record he's impossible to ignore despite only being known by the hardcore contingent.

yeah i do enjoy watch a lot of boxing but im working my way backwards- at the moment im watching a lot of oscar del a hoya. would have included him in this but feel he's lost a few to many important matchs to make the top 10

I always find an all time list too difficult. Very hard to judge when there is little or no footage. Always end up being biased toward later day fighters.

What is interesting is the number of people who have Duran above SRL. Not saying SRL is the best but he is my favourite fighter.

Yeah, other than that it's sound!

Marquez beat Barrera and was robbed against Pacquiao.Maybe Morales ahead of Marquez but not Barrera.

Despite losing to Marquez which didn't mean a great deal I believe that Barrera has the far stronger record overall

I would agree with that. Like I said Marquez would be third out the three of them. Morales first but wouldn't have much between him and Barrera.

Morales though only big wins have been Barrera and Pacman,Marquez has beat not just two but alot of big names.

I always find Barrera v Morales a hard one to judge thanks to the closeness of their head to heads. The only one in my opinion which was won decisively was their first, problem being I had a different guy winning it dcisively to the judges.

If Marquez defeated Pacquiao would you still have Barrera and Morales ahead of him?

No I thought he was unlucky not to get the win. It's just who I preferred watching tbh very little between the 3 of them but Morales was my favourite and I give 2nd place to Barerra because of his fights with Morales. Records have very little to do with it.

That's the thing though at the present time Marquez is relatively easy to over rate because wins over the likes of Casamayor, Diaz and Katsidis look better than they actually are. In retrospect they are his biggest victories but for me don't compare to wins over Ayala, McCullough, Kelley, Chavez, Hernandez, Espadas and Chi, all of whom were consistent world level performers.

I don't mean this to sound as if i'm being harsh on Marquez who is a brilliant brilliant fighter but a notch or two below Morales and Barrera. Obviously a win or two over Pacquiao would have changed things but both were close fights in which I had JMM winning the first and drawing the second but the knock downs cost him dearly both times and if we sat here using our own personal judging of fights we'd be here forever. End of the day the opinions of the three judges is all that matters no matter how much we disagree.

I never realised I left him out that was a mistake. I know it's an opinion just suprised so many left him out.

It's certainly tough to prune them down to ten isn't it, mate ? My top five normally stay the same, but apart from those I'd probably change my mind every time I attempted it.

My top 3 never change Robinson, Ali and Pep although Pep and Ali change places from time to time. I had to leave out Louis to put Armstrong in but not having Joe top 10 never seemed right but I couldn't justify taking anyone out to fit him in.
