The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great current fly-half pictures on the bar. We've got Carter, Cooper, Sexton, S. Jones, Wilkinson, Priestland (in RugbyDreamer's corner ) and Steyn all in action. Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Martin Amis: red wine, large
Bartender: So I had Charles Dickens in here the other day asking for a martini, so I asked him olive or twist?

Have to say although Scotland are poor, Georgia are giving a very decent account of themselves.
My 100% record in sportsguru went kaput this morning. Samoa win was fine but I had Tonga by 18 in the other match oops.

Morning all...great start to the day watching the 2nd half of canada then a run then 1st half of scotland!!
I know it's bad to say but i'm glad Sheridan won't be playing in the w.c rate both Corbs and Stevens higher than someone who can't scrummage anymore. Wonder if England will bother calling up a fr replacement or look at Fluety/Fourie....

Ah Cari, I've tried a hard hat before. They're a nuisance as you have to keep adjusting them and they make it easier to get your head pulled down and punched. I'll be alright.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Regs a question. Would you be happy for your country to get knocked out of RWC if it meant your team won this years Heineken Cup.
So:
Ireland lose to Italy and Australia, but Leinster/Munster/Ulster win HEC
Wales lose to Samoa and South Africa and Fiji but Ospreys, Dragons or Scarlets win HEC

Very disappointed with this headline and first paragraph.

Despite running the show against the USA after Jonny Sexton had been hauled off early in the second half, Ronan O'Gara finds himself warming the bench for the game against Australia in Auckland's Eden Park (9.30am).

The way I see it is the regions were formed to supply quality players for the national side... So if Wales go out in the group stages then it's been a failure,,,But of course I would like one of the regions to win the HK.

You'd know your a hedge trimmer (or whatever you do). Why bargain for something you can get for free
Sure aren't Scotland the ONLY team in RWC 2011 who have managed to win two matches so far.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
ha I dunno Stag, for reminding me that Munster are chasing their 12th straight win over my team. I don't like being reminded of that!
and I would always want Wales to win the rwc over a Welsh region winning the HC.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Dreamer, Llanelli beat us in a European Cup match 5 years ago. We simply can't let that go and now we have to beat Scarlets every time. We have 5 players in our Pro12 squad for the weekend, that have tasted defeat to Llanelli. They should motivate the others.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Ah but you aren't playing Llanelli any more
To be fair, we should have beaten you away last season, that mess up right at the end still haunts me.
Dan Evs and Stodds clean away, clear overlap, a take and give was all was needed but they knocked the blydi ball on (ot whoever had the ball decided to go themselves and didn't pass, that happened quite a lot last season so not that sure now I think about it )

Seeing as you're around, quick question
Can a player who catches the ball from kick off inside the 22 call a mark? Just curious

Kia - not directly from kickoff.
Dreamer - it was Llanelli Scarlets the region. Its the same region now. It wasn't Llanelli RFC
The teams who are on our blacklist (i.e the teams who have managed to knock us out of Europe over last 11 years) - Northampton, Tigers, Stade Francais, Toulouse, Wasps, Biarritz, Leinster and Scarlets.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I've only got two teams on my blacklist. Leicester and Ulster. I'm sure there are others but those are the two that jump to the top of my list.
and ha same region, different(ish) name.
When are we playing Munster this w/end anyway? Is it Sat? If so then I'm going to miss watching it live

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
nah our team won't be out till tomorrow afternoon if they stick to form. Why do the Irish announce their squad first and then their team, whey don't they just wait till they know what their team is?
Zebo he was really good against us at Y Parc. Even if we did put in one of the most inept performances I've seen us give for a long time.

Makes me sweat more into my eyes and doesn't really last too long on the head once your face is being rubbed on the prop and hooker's shorts.
My season ticket has arrived today. Well a replacement until they get the swipe card system for the new stand sorted.

Anyone else heard about the song doing the rounds in NZ - a version of 'Who the flip is Alice'
It's called 'Where the flip's Webb Ellis' on account that NZ haven't won it for 24 years. It have been a story on Planet Rugby.

It's been posted a few times Hound. Pretty well done. Written by an expat English sports radio presenter, though mercifully he didn't sing it himself, getting a bloke called Ricky Morris (who had some NZ and Aus hits in the late '80s and has barely been heard of since) to perform it.
