The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great current fly-half pictures on the bar. We've got Carter, Cooper, Sexton, S. Jones, Wilkinson, Priestland (in RugbyDreamer's corner ) and Steyn all in action. Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Ah T, you stand in the pissins of rain & wind and loyally support your local team. Something I admire you greatly for.
Bring a mate. Help it grow.
It needs money and we have none right now. SKY and the Pub only costs a few quid to fatten their arrses and make them lazy. I know. But an Irish soccer buzz, may grow from this deep recession. I really hope that happens. I'm an incurable romantic. And I make no feicin apologies for it. Leinster had 500 people watching them when I started. Believe.

Gibbo,I knew plenty of fellas who used to go but after the club collapsed for the 2nd time in 2 years they go less and less,I still try and entice people in. I brought my cousins from Long Island to a game one time. Among other things, they were astounded by the combination of curry and chips!

If Tommy scores a try tomorrow against Oz, he'll get his 100th test point. Just sayin'
Yellow for the Blues - and it's Xavier Rush which the locals love to see. Isn't Ulster's scrumhalf teeny! He makes Shane Williams look like a giant!

I was planning to watch the Tour of Britain tonight. Today's stage is all over Mendip, but have had to sky+ it as am watching Ulster, who seem to have gone off the boil a bit.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
The Tour of Britain has been pretty good so far Kia although I missed yesterdays action unfortunately. Last time I tuned in with it Geraint Thomas was 12secs behind Lars Boom but I can't see him overcoming him. Boom looks in great form.
Tis just nice to watch cycling in Britain for a change! There were some really good crowds on top of Caerphilly mountain, was great to see. Which we got to see more of it here really.

Big crowds on Dartmoor as well around Haytor. Had thought f popping over to Wells to watch today, but too busy. Apparently Cav let his ride-out man Renshaw win yesterday

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
ah that's nice to hear Kia! Cav get's so much bad press from some quarters for being "selfish", completely unfounded I reckon. Got a lot of time for that guy, think he's amazing.
My arm feels like it's about to drop off. Just finished making a cake mix for some fairy cakes and the recipe specified you had to hand beat it with a spoon, not an elecrtic mixer. Ouchtown now, but at least they're in the oven baking now

Must admit I don't much like Cav, but I have to hand it to him for yesterday.
That's a rubbish recipe instruction - I can't believe ANY cake mixture is improved by handbeating. All my old recipes (which come from a pre-electric beater era) are better for using the Kenwood, only absolutely essential gadget in the kitchen.

Aye Kia, I believe I've learnt the error of my ways. Electric beater all the way for me from now on, would have saved me time as well as my arm too.

I'm with Kia on that one.
Same thing mostly applies to all the "you MUST cream the eggs and sugar before adding..."
Makes no difference I think.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Do you use soft marge?
Guaranteed cake mix recipe (basic proportions, scale up as necessary):
2 oz soft marge
2 oz caster sugar
2 oz s.r. flour
1 egg
1/2 tspn baking powder.
Put all into bowl; beat like mad with an electric beater until pale and creamy; bake for 40 mins at 160 deg.
Sorry about ounces, but as the man said "I am gling metric, inch by inch" and I don't bake in metric.
These ITV4 commentators are rubbish. They are talking about riding all over the "Mendip Hills" and show film of Tarr Steps in Exmoor.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
ah no worries I cook by ounces too.
I took the butter out the fridge half hour before using it so it was fairly soft.
Ha yeah the ITV4 commentators are a bit like that, I've just gotten used to them now.
