First topic message reminder :

Okay, so with the JAV2 League closing due to lack of pure interest and maybe some rules which people didn’t get along with, we have decided to close it.

We have been speaking on the Facebook chat (we need to divert it onto here) about an idea of just starting as basic of a league as possible however this will involve more money and will involve less people hopefully as i want to run it and if I am to do so, I ideally only want people to sign up if they know they are able to commit to it.

We are still talking about ideas of course but any suggestions will be welcome. At the moment I think we discussed a draft style start being given random players with a smaller squad and making it so that we still have something to build but with more money per game/voting week with more than one voter each week however I think the feeling was to revert back to older style leagues with opinions and a score from each voter but again, this is still to be discussed.

This topic is purely to generate interest, I will give everyone until the end of Thursday (Midnight) to decide if they want in or not. As previously mentioned, we only want people who are dedicated and willing to commit otherwise there is simply no point as harsh as it sounds.

No worries, as long as you get tactics and votes in on time ill be a happy man - the banter is the main thing in the league anyways as at the end of the day its a bit of fun.

I might not be around for much of that during work but will get tactics and votes in etc. I'm usually more active at night.

We usually have the deadlines on a Friday night midnight for tactics and Monday night midnight for votes for example but we can organise the schedule once we are setting up..

Olly if you play you probably wont finish last to be fair..

Hero is helping me by setting up the squads, they are still going to be randomly assigned by myself at the end so nothing will come into question and we are sticking to the same setup for each squad, we will do a reveal of each squad over a day or so i think is the plan.

What kind of players we looking at high, decent or garbage

Needs to be pretty well known for me or I gotta do a lot of research!

We are picking 25 based on 11 being more expensive due to starting 11 and then the rest a bit less so i would say decent quality for most and then we are doing a star player per squad at like 20-25m value but dont worry we are going to sort it all out so it's fair.

I think it will be a bit of a mix if i'm honest.

Hero is also going to help me run the league, hence his helping with the initial setup - but like i said, i will randomise the squads when done.

Star player doesn't include goalkeepers does it? Been out of these leagues a while so not quite sure how much goalkeepers are rated in tactics.

It ever be thought about just doing outfield players for these leagues? Giving everyone the same goalkeeper?

I think we are avoiding the star player being the goalkeeper to be honest but we will see what happens.

Isn't it pretty easy to just select a max tm value for goalies of say 15m and pick the first 10 which come up and so on for each position? No quibbles that way?

Say 15m for all first team players, then 8m for all reserves?

So far we have selected 10 goalkeepers at around £10m value, thats all i will say for now. (starting 11 goalkeepers)

And no, not all are going to be £10m on the dot because there arent that many..

Will our budget be based off price of each squad? So say Trebs goalie is 9.8m and mine is 10.5 would he get 0.7 compensation.

I think we are setting similar budgets for all Nando, it shouldn't be too far out and some positions will be better for the teams that miss out on goalkeepers for example.

I haven't seen the squads yet so i'm not sure what the players are like in each.

This is harder than it sounds, TM prices are going to vary and people will have opinions on what players are better than others anyway. I might like a 10m player better than a 15m player that Nando has. IT doesn't matter.

I don't think it's going to matter long term anyway, people will be recycling the squads as soon as they can..

Some squads are going to be better than others thats just how its going to have to be..a lot of work has gone into it already (by Hero)

I think you have to ignore opinion on who is good or not. The most objective thing you have at hand is TM values, so just use that.

Carry on doing what you are doing, selecting similar value players. Randomly allocate them to squads, and hopefully the random element will even out and overall values will be broadly similar.

Then give each team a budget that takes them up to the same value in total, so all are even.

And then randomly allocate.

We are going to assign a budget to all teams because of the way the squads were picked Afro.

Every team will get a starting budget of £20m (Personally i dont want too much money in the league and want to keep importance on votes and tactics by getting 1.5m a week).

Just remember how much work goes into this guys please.

It was a fair point to ask incase others get miffed about being started on a lower budget.

Right I've just done the 10 players in every group and sent them to Miky.
It's a range, there's certain groups where it's better to get the cheapest of the group over one of the dearest so if once you've got your team and you decide to tot it up it may not be the most expensive but it may have better players, luck of the draw.
For the Star Player, I've kept it as outfield players and I'm sure Trebs will be pleased to hear I only picked over 25s in age.

I'm fully expecting people to be miffed anyway Nando, didn't want it to come across as rude. The whole point of the draft is random at the end of the day.

I completely agree with what Afro has said by the way - I raised it privately.

Afro just put it out there, I don't think he is bothered either way.

I think it is a good idea to use the budget to bring all teams are level in total (players plus cash)

Not going to campaign for it but it makes sense and not sure why you wouldn’t.

Mainly because try telling the guy who gets Shawcross that the other manager who got Chiellini also gets an additional .9m to spend.

I mentioned it to Hero and thats what he told me and it makes sense Afro. I know who i would want out of those 2 in that example. Shawcross isn't bad by any means but Chiellini is still the better defender.

It's because we don't take age into consideration and TM does I suppose.

I think the way you have done it won't mean anyone has a massive advantage at the start.
