Scottish Player List (playing outside of Scotland) & transfers

First topic message reminder :

This is still a tad out-of-date and is in the process of being updated.

This is a reference thread to pool a list of Scottish and Scots qualified players that play outside of Scotland. Only having 2 pro teams means there are surely a good few of them.

Why? Well, mainly as a reference and to discuss the talent that plays away from home and, if they are playing well, hype about them getting picked for Scotland, or getting signed by Edinburgh or Glasgow.  

I'll start off with the ones I know of, and I'll update the thread as we go.

Please let me know who I've missed, and of any transfers or retirements!

As a falcons fan I like when we have a good number of Scots.

One of my favourite falcons ever....the Border Terrier Mr Gary Armstrong.

But we also had Peter Walton, Doddie, George Graham etc etc

I loved watching Gary at Tankie's charity game a few months ago. For sure, he's got a sizeable middle-aged spread, but the raw talent is still there. His passing was crisper than a bag of Walkers, and he really got stuck into the nitty gritty.

McGeechan describes Armstrong as one of the toughest rugby players he ever coached. He managed to be an extra forward in defence without it ever compromising his scrum half duties.

You also had Peter Walton. A tank of a man at 6 and very underrated.

Good to see Rory Hutchison seems to be making the breakthrough at Northampton this season, been named on the bench again for the match against Exeter tomorrow evening. I thought he looked a decent prospect playing for the U20s at 10 and 13.

According to Morrison in today's Scotsman the SRU are keen on Josh Bassett the Wasps and former England U20 winger, born in Edinburgh apparently.

I thought being born in Edinburgh would be more of a qualification for England

Rory Brand signed a two year extension on his academy contract for London Irish this week. Played 9 for England U18s in the 6N and tour to SA in the summer, but Glasgow born and only moved to England in his early teens.

Certainly seems to be a good amount of young Scottish born/qualified 9s coming on the scene now with a few playing in France and then a handful getting game time at good clubs in england
