Seems extremely obvious that Picamoles actions involved striking McCaw in the face with his fist. You have to be pretty blinkered to objet to a yellow for that.

i dont object to a yellow for it. but it wasnt a punch, as owens said, and it wasnt towards the eyes.

Actually that's a fair point.

But honestly none of them are close to this standard (or that of Aussie in full flow).

Obviously Ireland are the one who might make a semi but I wouldn't be shocked if they didn't now (Arg looked competitive with NZ unlike this).

bs its more serious. was handbags. what was more serious is the slowig down of ball, and then impeding of the french 9. nothing is automatic. tmos have had a big impact on this competition. and not in a good way. World rugby will learn from it.

Wishful thunking. No, the penalty was very much sufficient. You wouldn't say another player who did the same deserved yellow. There was no imminent try scoring chance. It wasn't close to the line. No reason for a yellow. A penalty was justified, definitely, which they were getting until Picamoles decided to play the hard man.

Must be great being an all black. Hang around offside all night, hands in the ruck, in at the side when it suits you. Pass the ball back sometimes forward sometimes no-one seems to care!

Playing some great stuff, and I'm not a hater, but I think Owens doesn't like the French.

I think New Zealand might shade this one.

If you agree that Picamoles was deserving of a yellow, isn't that by definition more serious than the penalty offence that McCaw was guilty of?

The irony of the moaning about the ref is Phillippe St. Andre could be reffing this and New Zealand would still run away with it. You're never going to see a more one-sided knockout game than this.
