First topic message reminder :

Removed the old one because it was full of crap.

Remember that this section is open only under the condition that it isn't used to attack others. Attacks based on religion was a big reason why it was closed the last two times, so cut it out. If you can't play nicely, don't play at all.

Next time I'm just deleting the section, it's a waste of my time having to wade through all the crap. This thread is supposed to be light-hearted, keep it that way.

Wouldn't say it grinds my gears....But I work in offices relatively close to Piccadilly Station in Manchester and sometimes I get the train...Posted a short distance away from the entrance is a Jehovah witness stall with fresh faced types and near them is an array of Homeless individuals in various degrees of health...Most of it bad..

Find it somewhat ironic I'm being told by these people..God is all around me while him and they...don't seem particularly interested in the plight of those in and around them..

WTF is the point of the actual event then going ahead? Why does Her Maj bother to actually deliver her Christmas Day message anymore as it’s always now trailed in the media? ‘The Queen will say “blah, blah, blah, coming together, blah, blah, times of need, blah, blah, children” ‘

Amen! Also, the 'optional' service charge that's automatically added to your bill, forcing you to either pay it and grumble later, or have a confrontation about why you don't feel you're going to pay it. Either way, the meal's ruined.

On a similar subject, people who are always looking to see oppression. Latest case in point being the apparent controversy of the relatively light skinned Will Smith being cast to play the (darker) Richard Williams.

The argument being advanced is that lighter skinned African Americans are treated preferentially, However, as some have pointed out, the darker actors who could be considered, such as Idris Elba, are already far too busy trying to tie up the role as the next James Bond.

Should colour of skin come into it at all. Isn't it discriminatory, and not to mention illegal, to disregard someone for a job based on the colour of their skin, so surely whether they are light skinned African American or dark skinned African American is irrelevant.

One of the things is this world that winds me up far more than it should. Throw in the morons who believe only gay actors should play gay characters, disabled actors for disabled characters etc. "Oh but they won't understand what it's really like to be disabled". THEY ARE ACTORS FFS! Pretty sure Tom Cruise was never a navy pilot. Or an army lawyer. Tom Hanks was never stranded on a desert island. They seem to still do a good job in the roles regardless.

In shops, in supermarkets, in public areas, even in a bloody restaurant the other day. Guy was dressed up reasonably nicely, clearly had put some effort in to look like he didn’t put effort in, but had no shoes on.

I don’t even have a problem with people’s feet, but I just find it weird not to wear shoes. It’s the gall of it.

I do remember a while back (in the late 70s) where on really hot summer days you might see the odd bloke at the milk bar... in swimming togs... but usually something on his feet. Not the prettiest sight if you happen to be at the butcher's though and you're ordering sausages.

Also, you'd get women in bikinis buying a few things... just out of the pool... hop into the car... grab a quick park at the local shops...hair still wet.
But only on really hot days... and only in certain places.

People are much more self conscious these days.
You hardly ever see half dressed people walking about in public... unless we're talking about shops near a beach in the peak summer season.

As kids... we used to run barefoot everywhere. Riding bikes... dump the flip-flops... run over there; then race back sort of thing.
My feet were so tough back then. I could walk on sticks and sharp rocks in the bush. Felt nothing.
I'd never try it now days though. There's too much broken glass everywhere!

I've never seen anyone go barefoot in a restaurant in all my days though. That would be a real eye-opener! Pass the menu, will ya mate! Laugh

The further north you go in Australia however... the more you would tend to see this sort 'too casual behaviour' and 'over-casual-ware' happen.

Anyone concerned that children can’t handle learning about LGBT+ relationships and people. Kids are sound as heck, generally. It’s only when adults get their stupid opinions into their heads that it goes wrong. They’d give so few s***s about it, it would just make sense to most of them.

Pretty much spot-on. A couple of my wife's friends are gay and we've had them and their husbands round to our house for dinner a few times and my 7 year old daughter doesn't think twice about it.

It is. Also, having twice endured the sheer terror of driving a newborn baby home from hospital, I don't think its unreasonable to think that anything which has even half a chance of making other drivers behave themselves might be a good idea.

Unless they're on every side of the vehicle and have loads of flashing neons, I can't see they have any value as a preventative measure.
Paramedics etc wouldn't check a vehicle to ensure they've accounted for everyone anyway? Suppose the child seat(s) wouldn't be a potential giveaway? Drivers take them off the glass when baby isn't in the car I suppose? Wouldn't want the paramedics panicking that they've missed a little one.

Fair play though; I suppose it might work. I'll find something else to complain about.
