That really grinds my gears thread
First topic message reminder :
Removed the old one because it was full of crap.
Remember that this section is open only under the condition that it isn't used to attack others. Attacks based on religion was a big reason why it was closed the last two times, so cut it out. If you can't play nicely, don't play at all.
Next time I'm just deleting the section, it's a waste of my time having to wade through all the crap. This thread is supposed to be light-hearted, keep it that way.

Yeah, you can even do it sitting down at home listening to your favourite music or watching a movie.
It's a great combination of merging cleverness, laziness and crime with minimum physical effort. Hang on... I'm just getting a drink from the fridge.

That reads like a piece in The Onion, I can't believe it's real. Does the Express have form for satire pieces?

Re: That really grinds my gears thread
It is all over the press today unfortunately that was just the first link google - "boys will be boys, gobsmacked"
If it is fake, which it may be, it has gone widespread.
It reads like that, because it is as stupid as something the onion would come out with.

What's the issue? Gender stereotyping, Gender exclusion? I have really lost track of everything people are supposed to be offended by these days....

Wasn't so much the 'issue', whatever the issue is, but how they describe it:
"Another who apparently has difficulty dealing with slogans that have been around for years wrote:" and "encouraged others who cannot cope with everyday phrases to do the same." are very dismissive if it's a legit news story and you wouldn't expect that.

Ha. Maybe. It's a load of bilge. I can see it now - Judge let's budding brickie/plumber/teacher/etc off jail time as it might ruin his/her chances. As if. Bollox.Scottrf wrote:Certainly a sentence in response to favours.

Don't know what the moaning's about, I've seen enough up and coming footballers and cricketers avoid custodial sentences as it might damage their promising careers.

Don't give a damn about that, assuming it's actually correct that is. Not sure those you mention were regularly off their heads on drugs and actually stabbed someone in the leg with a bread knife, as this apparent paragon of future surgical brilliance is meant to have done. Maybe she was just practicing her technique?Galted wrote:Don't know what the moaning's about, I've seen enough up and coming footballers and cricketers avoid custodial sentences as it might damage their promising careers.

Galted made the point rightly that the upper echelons get let of with stuff all the time,
Whilst Navy also rightly pointed out that that doesn't mean she should be let off with it. Unfortunatley they didn't have a screaming slanging match or so on :-)

Internet trolls. I'm having difficulty today with my DNFTT mantra particularly on the BBC message boards, which are suffering a particular infestation of spotty teenagers with no life and no humour.
A few on the rugby board here are rather testing my patience as well. It's not about differences of opinion, indeed that is necessary to have a dynamic discussion (even if very few people ever really change their mind), but about people posting deliberately inflammatory comments simply to draw out a reaction.

Ali was forced to give up the greatest prize in sports over his Vietnam stance in the 60s and it was a huge deal.....Now there are plenty of Heavyweight titles about so it would mean diddly diddly doo.....
That is the problem..Belts are so cheap that fighters have become bigger than the sport.
Mayweather v UFC bloke is just another nail in the coffin.
Rather watch Mayweather in KFC..

The idea that you have to be close or 'get on' with your family, even if they're a bunch of pr!cks that constantly let you down. Screw that, there just another set of friends that you should be able to drop the minute they show you no respect whatsoever

For the missus really, even worse is people trying to dismiss it as not a big deal (when what she really wants is some photo's of her mum and dad she's been asking for for about 8 years).
Happens once every few months when her family gets all indignant as she asks once again, why they don't speak to her (despite saying they will), why our family is never included in everything and can she have an answer on the pictures. I've told her, if they (and their friends) are trying to have a go at you without even asking the questions then take it you've hit a nerve and you know your right

Halloween next week...Which reminds me that Halloween 4 was the first horror movie I ever saw at the theater...Tried my luck a few times before that one but got my arse booted out for being underage..B**tards !!.(Creepshow 2 was a fail I seem to recall)
Think I saw more masks in the audience than on the screen that night....and If you happened to miss a wasting it was okay because a collective "Yeah go Mike" came out from the front..side and back of me. Whenever I see the stab 2 bit in Scream 2 it reminds me of the experience..
Seen worse movies...Seen better.....Certainly an experience.
