Team Integrity - Task 2

First topic message reminder :

This week's task is one that you will all enjoy, a classic task that brings out the fondest memories for all Azzrentice fans.

I am going to give you $6bn. With that $6bn, I want you to build a new football team. From scratch. I expect the following:

- Select which of the major professional leagues you want to play in, and why. I will arrange for your team to be placed into the top division of whichever country you select.
- Choose a team name that reflects well on the city, town or region you have decided to be based in
- Build a stadium, youth facilities, everything a club needs to be a success
- Buy a squad of players, bearing in mind FFP. Use TM values for all players.
- Bring in your own staff, manager, coaches etc
- With all this, you need to keep in mind that you will need to ensure once the money is spent, the club looks after itself - wages, sponsorship, tv money, everything has to balance (or at least comply with FFP)

From the losing team, at least one of you will be fired.

What about Lincoln?

I'm pretty open on location to be fair. If there's a better option in that region I'm all ears. I want to get facilities sorted first, then move onto staffing.

I'd personally go with Lincoln.

Unless Miky has any objections I'm happy to go with Lincoln.

I'm fairly sure money spent on facilities does not factor in FFP, but we will have to meet it for players fees and salaries.

Cardiff made 63.7m in prize money as the bottom side last season, Southampton and Leicester were bottom on kit sponsorship at 1.7m

Id also like to explore what we can make from stadium and training facilities naming rights.

I think 4 billion may turn out to be excessive, so I think the budget we have for the team may be capped at FFP value. We then have a reserve to not care if other initial costs run us into the red.

PL FFP allows us to lose 105m in 3 years I believe, with any over 15m having to be covered by the owner. Id propose we use the the whole 105m to build a team and inject equity from the 4 billion to cover it.

I'm having a look at naming rights for stadiums. Derby recieved £7m for a 10 year contract with Ipro.

Theres a rough estimate of a budget. That includes player transfer fees, salaries and coaches salaries. Infrastructure costs are excluded from FFP so stadium etc can be ignored

Also it covers the next 3 years and is the bare minimum we'd get as a PL side. Most of the transfer spend will come in Year 1 as we have to buy a squad.

I'm happy with Lincoln.

I apologise to you guys as I'm going to have to drop out of the competition as I have a lot more work on this week and I am quite busy on the weekend as I have a stag do to go to so probably won't get any time to take part so I'm going to duck out.

Aye, we need to put together a squad.

Id prefer younger with resale value.

We need a certain style and a manager etc that fit that and bring through young players.

I reckon we need to mix it up, I can't see a young side staying up in the league, I feel we need some players who've played in the Premier League before.

I agree with that, if we could budget a well known player we could make more dollar from merchandising etc

Are there restrictions on signing players or can we sign Messi for example.

What's the criteria on players?

As I said to Miky when I thought we might be a two man team at the start, I'm happy for you to take the lead on the squad part with a view to writing the squad and coaching part up l, and ill try to get a grasp on location, FFP and facilities etc.

We can spend what we like on players initially but we need to fit wages under that 3 year budget (a little over I can justify)

Happy for you to sit the criteria, think we should probably avoid having too many older players for fear of QPR. Star player or two may pay for themselves

On transfer fees I doubt we'll make a dent in the budget Azzy gave us. Wages have to fit under that number on the picture I posted somewhere
