THE OMPL CHAMPIONS CUP

Welcome to the OMPL Champions Cup

This cup will take place over a set number of weeks (which will be dependant on number of entrants). At the end we will crown the OMPL Champions Cup winner.

The winner of the cup will carry over 5 'BONUS POINTS'  into Season 5 of the OMPL when it begins. Given the close nature of the majority of the seasons so far I am sure you will agree this is a great prize and may very well prove to be invaluable come the end of next season.
The format of the cup is as follows:

Stage 1: The first 3 weeks will consist of Group Stages which will be drawn in the coming days. Entrants will be seeded based on there finishing position in Season 4 of the OMPL. You will then play each person in the group once with 3 points awarded to for a win & 1 for a draw.

Stage 2: After 3 weeks the tournament will change into a knockout format containing the Winner of each group and the 2 best runner up's from all the groups.

Below you will find the rules & the scoring system – Please note that when it comes to the scoring you cannot have one without the other. That is to say if you fail to predict the winner you will not score points for method etc. YOU HAVE TO PREDICT THE WINNER TO GET THE OTHER POINTS.

Best score of the week and it played nothing! Feel like its a waste of a good week  Probably have two shockers now. Box rec is going to be needed this week!

I came in close behind you. Considering that I thought I did terrible this week, with Dawson letting me down big style, a very good result for me! I will now pat myself on the back all day.

Compelling - One of the frustrations of doing this format but it does make it different from the league season and I think adds some intrigue which hopefully keeps the game interesting and people coming back/joining in the future.

Just edged out by Chris last week after an uncharacteristically listless performance by Gamboa let me down. This group might be a tight one: C&R that goal difference could be valuable.

a few notes, please all read:

Those who used a Wilcard pick for the fight which was void, your Wilcard was not wasted as it was onto another of the fights. The fight which it given to was one which your opponent had during week 2. (Hope that makes sense)

Due to the fact I do not want people not entering simply because they can not progress any further I have decided that we are going to run a EURO Cup alongside. So when we head to the knockout stages of the CHAMPIONS CUP the 4 best 3rd Place finishers will enter there own mini two week tournament to take the crown of EURO Cup Champion. Adds another little thing to it and as I said hopefully it ensures people pick in the final week.

Those who have entered the competition and failed to predict any weeks you will be banned from participation from the next cup. I realise some people forget or have other things going on but so do I and if I build a game (well continue Union's) around a set number of people participating then I expect them to do so. By not playing you have screwed the game up a little and wasted my time.

To the rest of you best of luck heading into Week 3 and thank you for the continued support and participation in the game, hope you are enjoying it as much now as you did when OMPL started.
