THE OMPL CHAMPIONS CUP

Welcome to the OMPL Champions Cup

This cup will take place over a set number of weeks (which will be dependant on number of entrants). At the end we will crown the OMPL Champions Cup winner.

The winner of the cup will carry over 5 'BONUS POINTS' into Season 5 of the OMPL when it begins. Given the close nature of the majority of the seasons so far I am sure you will agree this is a great prize and may very well prove to be invaluable come the end of next season.
The format of the cup is as follows:

Stage 1: The first 3 weeks will consist of Group Stages which will be drawn in the coming days. Entrants will be seeded based on there finishing position in Season 4 of the OMPL. You will then play each person in the group once with 3 points awarded to for a win & 1 for a draw.

Stage 2: After 3 weeks the tournament will change into a knockout format containing the Winner of each group and the 2 best runner up's from all the groups.

Below you will find the rules & the scoring system – Please note that when it comes to the scoring you cannot have one without the other. That is to say if you fail to predict the winner you will not score points for method etc. YOU HAVE TO PREDICT THE WINNER TO GET THE OTHER POINTS.

Cheers for your interest Chaps. I think I will do the 2nd option. Adds some rivalries to the competition and gives people a chance for some banter in the build up to the matches.

I want to get this started on Monday/Tuesday at the latest ready for people to predict on next weekends bouts'

I need a minimum of 16 people entering (16 COMMITED PEOPLE)...we should get that but if we get more, yet less than 32 I will have to have a rethink on how we do the group stages...

Steffan - It would finish probably 2nd Week of July..assuming of course you get past the Group Stage.

At the moment we have 14 people involved. Ideally I need either 16 or 32 to make it easier in terms of organising the Round Robin stages. Don't forget deadline is tomorrow as I need to get the groups drawn and the fixtures done...so if you are interested say so now rather than leave the thread thinking you'll commit later. head to head sounds good with overall points as the goal difference to separate if teams are tied

although saying that in the same format in fantasy footy, i won the overall league but somehow managed to come 11th in the head to head league??

Thank you to everyone for there interest. 23 places taken so far hopefully we can get that up to 32.

Deadline will be tomorrow and I will then put up the first set of fights for prediction (as normal your predictions will need to be in by Saturday evening). We will be doing format two so fixtures amongst each group.

Ok Predictors of the Champions Cup,

The game is now set up, tables have been drawn and week 1 fixtures are ready as are the fights for prediction so let the Cup and banter commence.

A message to those in Group F, due to numbers there are only 3 of you competing. That means you will all face each other this week before then facing one another again in individual fixtures the following 2 weeks. So one of you will miss week 2 and one in week 3. Hope that makes sense!
