my opening batsman consisetently fail and therefore when batting i seem to get off to horrendous starts

New game with Surrey now. Won the CC Div 2 first season and made some cracking signings in Benkenstein, Stokes, Finn and Dockrell, but have really faltered in the CC this season, languishing around mid-table.

well done on winning the league...

This season I'm doing a little better in the T20 with Shane Watson getting MoM most games as my T20 overseas. Great signing.

i signed Imran Tahir as my overseas again he and Borthwick bowl well together.

Jad Dernbach has been my biggest letdown this season after a cracking first season. He does ok in the CC, but in limited overs is very expensive and often wicketless.

when i went on it yesterday, i looked at all my players performances over the season and am gonna shift the dead wood, and work on bringing in younger players and building them up for england.

Sod England, it drives me mad that they keep taking Davies, KP and Tremlett away from me haha.

Finished my second season with Surrey and got offered the England captaincy Played 5 tests so far won 3-0 against SA in SA and 2-0 vs Zim in Zim. Lost Tendulkar to retirement so I signed Sangakkarawith Surrey and Watson is unavailable in hte T20 so I signed Chris Gayle instead of him. My CC side is now:

Presumably you don't pick KP for England, so as to have him available for Surrey?

Otherwise he spends the whole bloody season away!

I played KP in my first series with england and he got 10 runs from 4 innings so he's now dropped, to surrey's advantage!

I need another skipper for essex. Fossy retired the year before last on the game, and Ten doeschate is getting on a bit as well.

Technical question time, I played the game years ago and reading this thread from time to time has got my interest up again. I've looked at the website for potentially downloading 2011 and found there can be issues when played on a laptop. So my questions are

1 - Any of you guys play (successfully) on a laptop.
2 - If yes what spec and how does it run*

*we have 2 laptops here. the main one is a HP. As I'm at work I can't remember the exact spec but it's a duo processor etc (mid range spec). If it matters it has Windows 7. The problem is that I would be sharing this one with the mrs (who doesn't share all that well!) so ideally would like to use the small crap acer we have as a spare, but it's bog standard spec (can't remember processor speed) and runs Vista.

i play on a laptop but dont download the games, i buy them.

What spec is your laptop? low range, mid range and top end will do as classification, I'm no geeky techno junkie. Do you think it would run on a low end spec machine?

I looked at buying it from Amazon US/Canada but they only had the 2006 version. I could order it in the UK and get my Mum to send it over surface mail (I've never downloaded a full game before so wasn't totally confident anyway).

I have just won the county championship div 2 with essex

Congrats. Quick summary of my Surrey game:

Won Div 2 first season.
Relegated 2nd season.
Finished 5th 3rd season.

Got a very good side with the likes of Davies, S Patel, Stokes, KP (when available), Finn, Dernbach, Mohanty (overseas - fantastic), Tremlett (when available) so hoping for better things this season!

I managed to sign Paul stirling for my side now as well. He is more effective in limited overs though.

I find that Meaker is wholly ineffective on the game, quite expensive and only gets the odd wicket.

Retired after the first year did Ramps, lazy sod!

I also have Dockrell, but he doesn't get to play all that often, as Ansari and Patel do well with the ball but are much better batsmen.

dockrell imo is more of a limited overs player.

Yeah, doesn't get into that side either as Ansari has been incredibly economical for me in limited overs.

My best signing in T20 was Juan Theron, took shedloads of wickets in every game, including 8-16 in one from 4 overs!!

Lost in the semis though as Theron got called up by the Saffers I was devastated!

i have brought Mark Pettini back in my side. left him in the reserves but has been churning out the runs so brought him back to see how hw does.

i am CC div 1 champions, and got to 20/20 finals day.

In year 2016, top of CC Div1 with Surrey. Sehwag just scored 1100 runs in the T20 comp for me! We went out in the quarter finals though, a disappointing loss after failing to chase 163 by 1 run.

Stokes, Pietersen and a youngster churning out massive runs.
