Glasgow vs Edinburgh 1872 part 1

Well after being peer pressured into this, over on the general chat thread, here we go. The game of the season so far, Glasgow fresh from a terrible start to the campaign (from their point of view) up against an Edinburgh team, who flirted briefly with some attacking nous and have of late gone back to the prudish style they utilised for most of last season.
I'd say I have no idea how this game will go, but the most recent of these fixtures does suggest a clear winner, and that won't be rugby. Prepare for the most turgid game of rugby known to man, culminating in a win for the true heros of Scottish rugby...Edinburgh.

1872 champions elect
Edinburgh Rugby make three changes for tomorrow afternoon’s 1872 Cup second leg against Glasgow Warriors at BT Murrayfield (Saturday 28 December, kick-off 3pm) – live on Premier Sports.
Scotland stars Jamie Ritchie and W.P Nel both return to the starting line-up at blindside flanker and tighthead prop respectively, while Nic Groom gets the nod at scrum-half in the only change to the backline.
Over 23,000 fans have already booked their place at BT Murrayfield for the second leg of the historic inter-city derby and tickets are still available here.
Ahead of the match, Head Coach Richard Cockerill, said: “We’ve had a good review this week and the players have been able to get a bit of down time with their friends and families over the Christmas break.
“We’ll have no problems with desire on Saturday. It’s important for us. We’ve got to understand that it’s not just a game of rugby. We’re representing our city. We’re representing the people we play for, our families, and all the supporters.
“We’re going to go full on and I’m sure Glasgow will come full on. These are no trials for the national team. These are full, we want the points, we want the bragging rights and we want to keep the 1872 Cup that we’ve won the last two years.
“It’s important for everybody that we represent our city properly.”
An unchanged back-three sees Blair Kinghorn – a try-scorer in last weekend’s opening leg at Scotstoun – named at fullback, as Darcy Graham and Duhan van der Merwe continue on the wings.
Scotland star Mark Bennett – who yesterday penned a new deal with the club – once again links-up with George Taylor in midfield, while Groom starts at scrum-half alongside stand-off Simon Hickey.
The inclusion of 35-times capped tighthead Nel is the only alteration to an otherwise unchanged front-row as Stuart McInally and Pierre Schoeman continue up-front.
Experienced locks Grant Gilchrist and Ben Toolis are once again named in the second-row as Ritchie returns to the back-row alongside openside flanker Hamish Watson and No.8 Viliame Mata.
Elsewhere, Scotland international centre Matt Scott is once again fit and is named among the replacements.

Nothing much wrong with the Glasgow side, probably the strongest we could get out to be honest.
Edinburgh not holding back either!

Hopefully Edinburgh get a better run without piecrust standing and looking at a ball at the bottom of the ruck.

Re: Glasgow vs Edinburgh 1872 part 1
I think the Glasgow psych-ops team have been hard at work this week. I was concerned that all the warriors' players who did media duties stayed "on message" and trotted out the "our pack won their battles...brutality.. we wanted it more", this of course could easily backfire by winding up the Perfumed Ones' pack. Then I realised that is exactly what they are trying to do. Cockers will be so enraged that his manliness has been questioned that his gameplan will be, "Go out there and do exactly the same....just try harder."
Expect your back three to be spectators for 79 minutes today.

Peter Wright is hilarious.
Doesn’t know the laws of the game, especially laws involving the forwards like the maul law, but he’s hilarious

Re: Glasgow vs Edinburgh 1872 part 1
See all these injuries.
Edinburgh vs Glasgow should just be decided by playing G Horne and D Graham 1 vs 1. Both players stand on their 22. When the ref says go, they run to the ball which is placed on the halfway line then they need to pick it up and score.
First to 10 tries wins
