Groves vs Chudinov ordered by WBA

WBA orders Fedor Chudinov vs GeorgeGroves for vacant Super belt at super-middleweight. Purse bid if no deal by January 5, 2017.

That'll be an interesting fight since Chudinov not fought since the Sturm shambles.

So it looks like Groves is finally going to get his hands on a World title. Should beat Chudinov and if he doesn't then maybe it's time to knock it on the head. He'll be entering Martin Murray territory before too long, as nearly man. If he does win it and Degale beats Jack then it could be good times ahead in 2017 in the SM division. Especially as we are due to find out if Callum Smith is the real deal at some point, and if he is we've got a nice little love trinagle there and three belts involved.

I like Chudinov in this. Groves looks really fragile. Might have a little bet.

Chudinov is essentially unbeaten. Sturm's win is as dirty as his urine...I like groves but the Russian KO him

Fight's mandated and negotiations will take place in next few weeks (and Groves has been happily tweeting away about it all day).

One thing he doesn't have is class. He is one of the whiniest fighters around today. I lost a hell of a lot of respect for him after the Jack fight. Storming out of the ring was bad enough but his treatment of Fitzpatrick was terrible. If he feels he is responsible for the loss fair enough dump him, but to them do interviews with anyone who will listen slagging him off was cheap. If you dump a trainer two days after a loss we can work out you blame him without the need to tell the world over and over. Poor form from Groves and completely unnecessary. I'm not a huge fan of his.

Groves has more lives than a cat. Perhaps this will be time he becomes champ.

I appreciate he has a career to think about, but have to agree its undignified in the extreme to be haggling over your next fight while your opponent from the last one is still unconscious in a hospital bed. Oh I forgot, he set up a just giving page. That's ok then.

Reports Lebedev has been taken into hospital with a brain injury.

It's not ideal the amount of boxers ending up with serious injuries at the moment.

It's strange because you look at MMA and it seems a hell of a lot more brutal than boxing but all the big injuries seem to be coming from boxing at the moment.

Lebedev has not suffered a brain injury according to his promoter, he suffered a broken hand however

Bare knuckles... fewer head-shots... shorter fights. It's the repeated concussive blows that tend to cause the serious head injuries.
