Greatest Club Try Ever
In an attempt to while away the hours of the pre-season I thought it would be a good idea to see what 606 believes to be the greatest club try ever. Clearly we can only include tries that can be viewed on video, but please nominate your club's best try along with a link to view and then once we have the nominations in we can produce a proper poll to find the best ever. When that time comes I'll ask you to avoid club parochialism and vote for the best and not your club's!
So what was your club's best ever try?

Starting off with Glaws
I'd have the LV try by Fuimaono-Sapolu right up there https://youtu.be/KPZOh4QCdpI?t=51s
As would this Jonny May inspired effort from Martyn Thomas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGajryagpQ8
But I think every Glaws fans' favourite try will be this one from James Bailey. The pressure from Wasps had been enormous then a moment of magic... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zemv2um-w4

Re: Greatest Club Try Ever
As individual skill goes young Jordan Williams try in the HEC this season against the Quins was pretty special
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLghzxv2fYU
Best try I have seen the Scarlets score in the last season was a real length of the pitch (from about half a meter from our own line) team effort finished off by Josh Turnbull
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVW-esRB8sw
And all time (well since I have been going to games) best try would have to be the team effort that put Rhys Priestland in against USAP in the HEC a few years ago

Re: Greatest Club Try Ever
Don't think you can count the middle one given Edinburgh's total lack of interest in tackling!!!
For Glasgow, I'd have to say Peter Horne's effort against Northampton is pretty special https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UWfEwTCOhw

Re: Greatest Club Try Ever
It's not the greatest Edinburgh try ever, but it is one of the best prop tries I've seen from WP Nel!
40m out, throws a dummy, ghosts through the gap and races in to score. All after an almost 80 minute shift against Leinster!

Re: Greatest Club Try Ever
I must say there is something to be said for the prop forward who all of a sudden finds themselves in the world of space and the try line in front of them They can get a bigger cheer that the speed merchants diving into the corner sometimes.
I remember Fitz scoring for Leinster against Bath in a HCup game in Lansdowne Road a few years back. The second half kick off collected one side of the field by the lock lifted up by the props, ball is thrown wide with great pace and precision and next thing Luke is side stepping the last defender and sprinting three quarters the length of the field to touch down.
There was a two season spell of Leinster at their free flowing best where they created tries and scored without a player even getting touched until they were over the try line.
That was a long time ago though.

Re: Greatest Club Try Ever
We can laugh at WP Nel, but he's scored 9 tries in two seasons at Edinburgh. Has anyone other than Tim Visser scored more??
I'd wager that Nel is faster than Sean Lamont!

That would make Nel the 2nd fastest out of the Glasgow squad then, if Sean Lamont's claims are true??

Re: Greatest Club Try Ever
Maybe not aesthetically the best, but certainly contenders for most important for Tigers.
Leon Lloyd's winning try in 2001 HEC Final after Healey break (4'40"):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-h3v1dt5eis#t=293
and Dan Hipkiss to win the Premiership Title in 2010 (4'50")
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIxwHWWBvso
Both games were geat club matches, with a title at stake, high skills shown and the lead changing hands numerous times. Both tries cam in the last few minutes to regain the lead and win the title.

Bath v Ulster - Ulster try 1, Andrew Trimble: https://youtu.be/_8qbtSnPUyg
Andrew Trimble beats nine Bath players. You can count them on the reverse angle.

Re: Greatest Club Try Ever
Mickado do you have the Hickie afterburner try in the corner from that game? Not first phase I know but that was an amazing end to end period of play with both sides making breaks and really throwing the ball around.

Re: Greatest Club Try Ever
I can't comment on 'greatest try ever' as it's too subjective.
The greatest try I've ever witnessed personally was this:
Scotstoun went absolutely mental. Like, proper end-of-the-world mental.
Edit: Dammit Glove, beating me again!

Sweet, thanks Mickado. There is so much to love in that clip. Both sides attacking, keeping the ball in play, turnovers, end to end, defenders being beaten. Then the knock on in the Leinster 22 and you'd think the players need a break so Felipe would kick down the touch line to relieve the pressure and get out of their own 22 but the shout comes in that Hickie would like to torch some forwards down the field.
If only Hickie had been 4 years younger to be part of the prime Leinster era, he was one of the best wingers around.

Re: Greatest Club Try Ever
One of my favourite tries - just look at Keith Wood and John Hayes finishes it!
(Toulouse v Munster, 2000 HCup semi).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyWfAXE8qAQ
Not a bad try either in the same match.

Re: Greatest Club Try Ever
Lots of Glasgow favourites for different reasons:
1. Kelly Brown against Toulouse in 2009 (1:53 below):
Beating Toulouse at the Stade Ernest-Wallon was the start of something special happening and this combined my favourite players in a joyous first phase kick off return.
2. Richie Gray against Bath in 2011:
Opportunists moment of brilliance to beat Bath at the Rec in the 80th minute.
3. Niko Matawalu against Ulster in 2013 - in particular the Theft Try from the feet of Ruan Pienaar (2:30 below):
That was when I realized we could be competitive for the league with the players that we had.
4. Peter Horne 'hero try' against Northampton - already been done, good work.
5. Carlin Isles against Heriotts in the Melrose 7s in 2014 (1:51 below):
Anyone who hasn't watched this yet should do themselves a favour.
I just love the sound of the combined cough/scream of the crown when they realize they've just seen 55 meters done in 5 seconds exactly.
