How many games and how frequently is it likely to be?

That'll determine whether I will take part

In one, Hero. Basically, the current participants are;

Me, Olly, Hero, Gregers, Nando, Trebs, Azzy and Viva (who said so on the homepage). So we definitely have 8. It'll be a straight knockout, but any more participants and we'll have to have a preliminary round with participants drawn at random.

So it'll be a maximum of 4 games if you go all the way.

Tactics are optional, the only thing really is a 5 a side team from your current squad, with subs and instructions optional.

8 confirmed then. Too late for anyone else.

Straight knockout or Swiss style? Swiss style will mean Hero's help required.

I don't mind assisting, is it just how a Swiss style tournament works that you need help with?

Basically the first round is drawn randomly.
The second round sees the four winners and four losers split into two pots.
So the winners play each other, the losers play each other.
The third round will then have 2 people on 2 wins, 4 people on 1 win, 2 people on 0 wins, the final is then played, the wooden spoon and the guys in the middle play. When there's more people it is more complicated but Ive ran it with 128 people in a geeky card tournament and its easy enough.

Um, why not just have two leagues of four, then a final? I've never done it 'Swiss style' but it sounds unnecessarily complicated Erm

Swiss style it is. (Seems simple enough)

First Round:
Hero v Nando
Olly v Marky
Viva v Gregers
Azzy v Trebs

AKA

Total Juan Carrs v Moleicester City
Bunga Bunga FC v Deportivo My Sharona
Pass the Deutschie v Deportivo la Chorizo
No Respek FC v Bratwurst Mannschaft

Winners play winners, losers play losers in Round 2.

Tactics optional, rules are you play a 5 man team and you can have 2 subs. Tactics due 30th December. Then we all vote with scorelines only required.

Because this way, everyone plays four games. And at the end, there will be a league of 8 ranked in order of wins and losses.

When I say 'tactics', it really is rudimentary - ie do this, do that, max 2 instructions per player...

Adler
Albiol
Shaqiri Gaitan
Mandzukic

Adler should catch the ball so they can't score and only throw the ball to our team
Albiol should tackle the striker and make blocks
Shaqiri and Gaitan should run box to box and do skillful stuff
Mandzukic should kick or head the ball in such a way so.it goes into the goal and be strong to stop taclklers
ATTACK IS THE BEST FORM OF DEFENSE

------ Caballero -------
------ Dominguez -----
--- Isco --- Mkhitaryan --
----- Soldado (c) -------

Keep ball, simple little triangles
Isco/Mkhitaryan to operate in the space that Soldado makes
Soldado to drag their defensive players out of position
Fast paced movement, Caballero to throw the ball out to Isco/Mkhitaryan

Juan Carrs

Iraizoz
Amorebieta
Fellaini-Eriksen
Muniain

Subs: De Marcos, Varane

Team talk
Amorebieta to stay back, ensure no-one gets through, Fellaini to come from deep and power with the ball, use physical strength. Eriksen and Muniain to use intelligence and one touch play to create chances and space.

Boateng
Ledesma Draxler
Quagliarella

Work as a unit attack together and defend together. Let them have ball in own half close them down in ours. Quagliarella has a very good shot use it when you get the chance. Pass and move at all times look to move into space.

FC No Respek:

------ Jack Butland
---- Leonardo Bonucci
Cheick Tiote - Steven Gerrard
--------- Demba Ba

Tactics:
Butland - close down the angles, distribute to a free man.
Bonucci - mark their striker, sweep up from behind.
Tiote - get stuck in, dominate physically
Gerrard - box to box, run your socks off to support Ba
Ba - shoot every chance you get, 5-a-side is all about getting as many shots on target as possible.

Overall strategy: hustle, muscle, press, keep it moving forwards.

Bunga Bunga tactics

Di Gennaro
Barzagli------Ranocchia
------------Diame----------
-------------Fletcher---------

Ranocchia and Barzagli defend like warriors, get the ball off Di Gennaro and be direct to Fletcher.
Diame you are the box to box beast. Support Fletcher and shoot on sight, defend like a trojan too
Fletcher stay forward, ball is coming to you early. I want you to shoot on sight and score goals
