Hatton Undercard - Page 6 Empty Hatton Undercard

Post by hampo17 Sat 24 Nov 2012, 12:41 pm

First topic message reminder :

All the talk for the last few weeks has been about Ricky, and rightly so. But has given his fighters the chance to prepare without having cameras stuck in their face every 5 minutes which is bound to help. So how do we see those going?

I think Gary Buckland will get through his fight against Steven Forster JR. Forster JR is a decent boxer but Bucklands power is the real equaliser. I also feel Murray will beat Navarro in a WBA Interim fight putting him right back in the title mix. The one I can't pick is Munroe and Quigg, before the last fight I picked Munroe but Quigg had the better of what little action there was. Possibly Munroe underestimated just how skilled Quigg, hopefully there will be no cuts though.

Cheers Manos - I think we all knew Senchenko would of had to of had a miracle to win on points. I guess we're no worse than Germany which constantly gets slated for hometown cooking on the scorecards!

I had it 77-76 in Senchenko's favour going in to the ninth, so by my reckoning Hatton would have needed a stoppage in the tenth to win, or a 10-7 round to shore things up. The man from Ukraine was the better fighter even before the stoppage, I think.

As others have mentioned, Hatton seemed to be putting his eggs in the early stoppage basket. He came out quickly and it seemed to take it out of his legs fairly early; his movement coming in, both from the feet and upper body, was poor by the mid stages. Senchenko took a littlewhile to get flowing but once he was, the only hope Hatton had of taking rounds was pressure. Senchenko dominated the battle of the jabs and had Hatton off balance / reaching for him nearly all the time from the mid rounds onwards.

haven't seen what the official cards were before the ninth, but as others have suggested, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they had Hatton comfortably up.

Here you go Chris, not as bad as expected.

judge: Oliver Brien 77-76 | judge: Robin Dolpierre 78-74 | judge: John Keane 77-76

It is a tricky one because whilst there is a case to be made that Hatton swept the first four for me there was one that could have equally as easily have gone to Senchenko and another that was pretty easy to give him a share of, so is eminently possible that Hatton was not more than a point up after four because even when he had his legs under him a lot of his work was wild and inaccurate and Senchenko was still landing his share of jabs, and the crudeness in Ricky’s work was making his defensive work perhaps a little better than it was, however after the fourth I found it extremely difficult to give Ricky much, maybe a share of one but little more beyond this, how one of the judges had him up by four is shameful as far as I am concerned.

For me I become increasingly frustrated that this idea that plodding forward constitutes aggression or deserves some sort of kudos off the judges, Hatton was undoubtedly on the front foot but there was little subtlety, skill or technique to what he was doing.

Cheers Hampo, and as you say not bad at all apart from Mr. Dolpierre - he must of received a van full of Hatton Promotion clothing prior to the fight! I kid!

Thanks, Hampo. The margins on two of those cards are narrow, in fairness, but how none of the three judges could have Senchenko winning is still a litle disturbing, for me.
