Brian Magee vs Andre Dirrell

Whats the thoughts?

Magee is tough a old boots as we know and is a little under rated truth be told, has only lost to the top guys who he has never had a problem going after.

I really don't like Dirrell and have to wonder if he really is cut out for the sport at the top level. Personally I think he is at the same level as Magee, just edging world class.

But seeing as its TMT's first card, they are never going to let one of their stars lose. So unless Magee knocks him out, its a points win for Dirrell.

Magee will lose and legitimately so.Brave fighter and fringe world class, but Dirrell is by far the better talent and will probably win a comfortable decison or late KO. Will be betting on this one, too. Like Magee, but Dirrells talent will show through

Nobody can, he is the biggest waste of talent in boxing

Dirrell is a far superior fighter to Magee in almost every way and Magee doesn't have the power to test dirrell chin which after the abraham debacle could be a little suspect

Dirrell spent a lot of time away but before Abrahams he was well on his way to be a top 5 fighter at 168 without question

Good card for TMT and hopefully they can continue to grow and provide a mayweather undercard worthy of the main event

Magee is someone I'd like Groves to be fighting to be honest. He's a couple of levels below Dirrell who shouldn't have a problem.

Groves would have been a good match up. Let's just hope that Dirrell now keeps active.

Im glad hes not fighting Groves because at this point in Magee's career its good to see him over achieving on a big stage like TMT's first card. He is currently the interim WBA title holder so is going in as the "champion" with the reguler title on the line.

Very nice payday for him. Against Groves it would have been a waste because in my opinion Groves wins but Magee would earn a fraction of what he has probably been offered by Mayweather and 50's team. If he is going to lose it, he may as well profit as much as he can from the loss.

Dirrell will likely pitch a shutout, although I wouldn't totally rule out a late stoppage for him, either; Magee is just so, so easy to tag against the top guys. Can't agree that the two are of a similar level, to be honest.

Totally agree. Magee should be trying to beat top level opponents. He is almost near retirement so why not roll the dice against the best? Far better than dropping down in class to likes of groves where he would likely lose and make far less money

I see Magee as a Glen Johnson type and fighters like that who are constantly on the road fighting in hometowns of fan favorites deserve every penny they get.

Well Chris apart from doing a roadrunner impression in one of the best wastes of time I have ever spent watching a fight against Froch and picking off a slow lumbering Abraham whilst fading in the last rounds and looked like he was ready to get ko'ed himself. I don't know how you can think hes at anything higher than an "interim" kind of level. He is only really famous for his rolling around on the ground act in the Abraham fight. Apart from that hes done nothing else. Plus he isn't going to break into the bigtime when he won't even fight (his best friend) Ward.

At this point even Groves and DeGale seem to have achieved more than him. He only really became a name by signing for the Super 6, but yet lost one and won a DQ. Hardly an elite fighter.

Dirrell by shut out. McGee will get well paid for his beating and hopefully retire. Easy night's work.

Can't stand him but he is a very good fighter.

Hope he gets sparked though, then at least he'll know what it's really like to get KO'd!

Perhaps the Groves / DeGale type fights may come after he loses this one against Dirrell, unlikely to get another shot at title after this so might as well take a fairly good payday against one or both of the Brits, then enjoy his retirement.

Would expect Dirrell to shut him out. Dirrell is one of these ultra-talented boxers who doesn't really have the right mindset to be a great. Still, I'd expect him to be too much for Magee.

Easy win for Dirrell, he is very talented, just not exactly motivated!

magee is underrated, but he wont land a glove on dirrell. how anyone can question dirrell as world class defies belief. have you seen the froch dirrell fight? was an absolute robbery, froch was made to look awful. also dirrell boxed less negatively that night than cotto against marg or mayweather against delahoya, but nobody calls them cowards.
