606v2 Rankings

Morning chaps

June is upon us, so it is time to update the 606v2 rankings.

You have until Friday 8th to post your current top 5 fighters in each weight class from heavyweight down to lightweight.

I would expect a couple of changes in the rankings this month, Carl Froch should surely now be above Lucian Bute, and perhaps David Price might make an appearance in the heavyweight list. Don't let me (or the Sky hype train) influence you though!

Wonderful insight there Union. How do you figure that little gem?

On a separate note and I know I've been banging on about this ever since it happened. Would JMM be ranked above Manny at welter had their fight been scored accurately? If so, why do we place such emphasis on the official score even though it was clearly wrong?

For the sake of clarity, Mayweather can only be ranked at light middle, and Bradley at welter.

Some were hard like having Lara at 4 when i believe he would beat everyone at the weight except floyd and even that would be a 50/50. Was also tempted to put Magglinagi above Brook as he has acomplished more at the weight I think but i'm sticking with them.

See I was a bit lost with Haye, Marquez & Guerrero, there a bit in no mans land.

Haye - technically still retired, hasn't got his licence yet an will have been over a year out of the ring by the time he steps back in to fight chisora.

Marquez - rank him at welter, light welter? he has stated he only wishes to fight again if its against Pac and turned own a LWW showdown with judah, but id rank him high at either as he does hold a disputed loss to the at the time P4P an WW no1.

Guerrero - hasn't fought in over a year and is jumping up to WW so couldnt really rank him.

Similar thing with Rios - well beat but not 'officially' and hasnt fought at the LW limit in his last two fights and similarly hasnt yet fought at LW.

Also, Mayweather is a light middle, Bradley is a welter, and who is Mitchell at light welter?

I've abandoned this, I thought it would be relatively simple to administrate but it appears to be more hassle than it is worth.

If someone else wants to do one then be my guest.

How about only a couple of weight classes per week? Not such a huge task then I assume.

It's 2 straight defeats mate, but I see your point.

With several responses (ie more than four), discrepancies like that would be levelled out, but there is simply not the interest to make it worthwhile.

Thanks for all the support and suggestions everyone but I'm throwing my hand in.

It could be there is not a lot of responses due to not many fights affecting any of the top 5/10 in each weight division.
Obviously Super Middle needs updating after Froch Bute.
Looking at all the weight classes once a month is a lot of work but I think it would work better if it wasn't monthly but more dynamic after any fight involving a top 5/10 fighter.
This means any poster has the division fresh in their mind and can perhaps just post quickly rather than having to search through several fights and weight divisions in one go.
The nature of posting for most people is I believe spend a quick 2 minutes many times a day whilst at work rather than spending 20 minutes researching and then posting - and getting caught by the boss.
