Bryan v Sheamus Match Question Empty Bryan v Sheamus Match Question

Post by VDT Thu 17 May 2012, 8:42 am

I was listening to a review of extreme rules yesterday and when they talking about the Bryan v Sheamus Match the reviewer said that Bryan couldn't of won the title because Sheamus won first fall by Disqualification and titles can't change hands by Disqualification even in a 2 out of 3 falls match.
Is that right? Thoughts?

I would have thought that could be a nice booking technique if it were true

Have them split a fall each and then someone gets disqualified and no-one knows what happens

Perhaps WWE just didn't think of that as a problem. Would have been funny if the title had changed hands and then someone piped up with this

could of had bryan win 2-1. he does a huge celebration, even with aj. then on smackdown while bryans have a title celebration, the decision is reversed

If Sheamus won the first fall by DQ and Daniel Bryan won the match, he would have won his two falls via pinfall or submission. As it is 2 out of 3 falls, D-Bry would have won his two in the manner needed to win the title.

I don't think it matters unless the last fall is a DQ.

Look at it from this angle, if Sheamus mullered the hell out of Bryan with a sledgehammer and totally knocked him out, he would be DQ for the first fall, but could have pinned for 6 seconds to claim the next 2 couldnt he and win the match?

This sort of happened with Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler last year in a 2 out 3 falls match, which happened on that power to the people show last year for the us title.

Both were tied on 1 fall each and Dolph got himself DQ'ed, but retained the belt even though Kofi won 2-1. Becuase titles can't change hands by DQ obviously. But it made very little sense.

That said it was the night wwe messed up the voting system for matches.

Hmm i know its not the same type of match but I think the fall system works the same way.

Judgement day 2000 in the Iron man match, Triple H won the title from the rock with the final fall being a disqualification after takers interference.
