Should these two meet in the quarter finals, who do you think will win?

Ferrer - Djokovic - H2H analysis Empty Ferrer - Djokovic - H2H analysis

Post by Jeremy_Kyle Mon 26 Mar 2012 - 0:09

There is a quite boring quarter final in the upper part of the draw, between Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer. Djokovic seems to play well but is struggling to express consistently the levels seen during the past season, while Ferrer is on a good run and is grinding hard as he usually does in early stages of the tourneys.

Their H2H: please check yourself , although I bet in Djoko's favour.

If Ferrer finds unquestionably a very difficult match up in the top guys, I don't think the same things can be said for Djokovic.. In other terms the two of them play a very similar game, but on those medium slow hard court Ferrer has one in a million chance to out power Djokovic and get the win, making a statement of intent for the clay court season.

If he and Federer make the semi what will that be this year? 5? Well on the way to making some record.

I'd like to see him fully back, he brought something different to the game and we need something new at the top.

Cillic is quite dangerous too, I remember he beat Del Potro last summer.

Cilic is a real threat, coz he has the better version of Del Potro when comes to game, but poor version of Del Potro when it comes to Belief and Mental Strength. So its 60-40 to Del Boy, if its Del Boy's day he will win for sure

Ferrer is a great player, but come on, in Hardcourts Del boy leading 2-1, and that one loss came in 2008 when DP was half is current level, he got the toughest draw anyways but will over come it. Ferrer not gonna beat Del Boy for sure.

Yea that would be awesome, everybody expected him to carry the torch when he beat the maestro in the finals of the USO, but injuries ruled the roost.

Speaking of Cilic, saw that Nadal/Granollers beat Cilic/DrIvo very easily in doubles for loss of 4 games. That's some nullifying of 2 big servers there.

oh come on, over confidence will spell doom on u NITB Very Happy , I voted for DP, coz I am a fan of him like how u a fan of Djoko, remember your hero struggled for almost 3 years before he could win the next grandslam, so don't rush with your verdict on DP, if he is said to win I will come back to haunt u ghost .

The last time they met in the Gslam, when DP started to fire all angles Djoko just had no clue, the rain interruption came at the right time to save the champ Very Happy , dont expect the rain GODs to show the sympathy again.

I agree with that invisiblec., Djoko was in real trouble at FO before that break after which DP lost his momentum. I'm going for a DP win.

Most people like Delpo.

As for the 4:1 H2H, Delpo's only "win" doesn't really count as that happened when Nole retired with serious injury in Davis Cup last year that took him out of action for 6 weeks. He was very foolish to play that match as he was already injured against Nadal in that USO final.

Delpo has yet to beat Nole and I'll believe he can when it happens.

@ NITB, stop those injury excuses, he stepped on the field and he was beaten by the better player that day, as simple as that, now stop being like some crazy Nadal fans who say their star can only lose when he is injured. Very Happy

Del Potro trails Djoko by 1-4, and this meeting if happens would be interesing and I would bet on DP to thumb Djoko out of tournament.

last time they met its Del Potro who won, and it was on hard , as simple as that laughing

I think Delpo will have a similar problem when facing Djoko than when he faces Fed. He is going to me moved around. Whereas Fed can do it from the centre of the court thanks to his shotmaking, Djoko can do it while unbalanced in the trameline.

However, I think it should be closer than v Federer.

No I see Djokovic as massive favourite if they meet.
Yes Del Potro won when they last played but Djokovic had an injury, and Djoko might not be on his best form but he's 100% fit and that's enough to beat Del Potro IMHO.
Of course thats not to say there can't be an upset, but it would be a big surprise.

Del Potro gonna scare the hell out of Nole in quarters with his ferocious ground strokes and serve, i can't wait for it.

Yes Djoko will start as favourite coz he is the defending champion, but it won't surprise me if Del Potro pulls off a win Very Happy , coz on his day Del Boy can beat anybody and he comes in with no pressure on his shoulders, Nole awaits the shock if DP makes it thus far.

edit -

7-3 in the poll says people are expecting it, so it can't be a BIG SURPRISE Amrit Very Happy .

I like del potro but dont see him beating djokovic. Djokovic has a far superior all round game. Del potro will be a threat but djokovic will wear him down and his return of serve is just immense so bound to get his chances to break. Djokovic has few if any weaknesses, hence has won 4 of the last 5 slams! So glad to see him fulfil his incredible talent the past 18 months.

Isner seems to be improving his net play quite a bit, an area where Del Potro could make some more improvements.

Both are dangerous players and beat their opponents on a good day. Djokovic had chances @IW.

DelPo has two tough matches before he gets to think about Djokovic. Wink Djokovic has two comparatively easier matches.

Delpotro - Ferrer: a very tough one to call. Ferrer was at full speed against Benneteau, I don't think he made more than a couple of UE the time I watched the match. However, Delpo seems to possess the game to kick the Spanish grinder out of Miami. Go Delpo!
