Who is Willie mason going to play for at International level? Empty Who is Willie mason going to play for at International level?

Having played for Tonga, Australia, born in New Zealand but now playing Union in France who will this much wanted and talented player qualify for internationally?

What do you think is his Nationality?

Probably no-one. He's been signed by Toulon on the basis that they want players who are not in demand from test sides.

Nationality and who you play for in rugby are two seperate things as well, you know.

He's ineligible for Australia and New Zealand as he's playing overseas. Toulon will effectively prevent him from playing for Tonga, even if they did call him up. And by the time he qualifies for France he will be 34 years old and past his prime (if he isn't already).

No... you can't live in a place for a few months, move away, move back and pick up where you left off in residency terms. He's left England now; back to square one.

If anyone it will be Tonga as I believe he has an affinity for the country plus has played for them in League.

I think he needs to learn Union before we start worrying which nation he will sell his skills to. He might end up as a good club player, or maybe a great club player. But it is a long leap to become an Rugby Union International. Even for a quality League player like him.

As people have said, he has to learn Union first. But most likely would be Tonga. He'd have to move downunder to get a shot in the Wallabies or ABs, while 3 years from now he'll probably be a bit old to make the French team.

As he doesn't live in England, then he will have to break his contract with Toulon and live in England for 3 years before he qualifies.
