Hayes punches aren't known to tickle either though, I doubt hearing that the world champion can hit hard and has a good jab will come as too much of a shock...

No, Enzo was eventually KO'd after gassing worse that Gavin Rees and Mosley combined. Think it was as much exhaustion as the punch. Big Macc took some big shots but none of them scrambled his senses like the KD Haye inflicted on him

Sparring partners always big up their employers...I mean Dirrell bigged up Groves.....Witherspoon bigged up Ali before Holmes!!!!

Dirrell bigged up Groves with good reason it seems! To be fair, Groves was complimetary about Dirrell too saying "Andre Dirrell is the fighter James DeGale wishes he could be"

Doesnt matter that he was gassed, he was still suffered a heavy KO. The article suggests that Afolabi won on points, and that he and Haye are 6'5. Doesnt seem altogether reliable even if the quotes are genuine.

Just highlighting that the article above is wrong on it. The guy who wrote it doesnt seemed very clued in to boxing. Haye and Afolabi 6'5 aswell?? Harrison was 6'5 and there was an easy 2/3 inches difference in height between him and Haye. Afolabi is probably only 6'2/6'3 himself.

Afolabi KTFO enzo in rd 9, I thought he looked a decent fighter but he's nit dine that much since. Sparring partners always say these kind of things about the guy paying their wages, it's nothing haye wasn't already aware of and I'm sure he'll pay little heed to it. Also, Afolabi is nowhere near as quick, explosive or powerful as haye and doesn't use the same style - not sure why wlads using him as a sparring partner.

Afolabi isn't just a sparring partner. Same promoter and has been fighting on loads of Wlad/Vitali undercards. All praise from him is probably as biased as can be.

He was also used as a sparring partner to emulate Chisora when that fight was still on. Apparently he was giving Wlad fits with his movement and made him look bad. That's what I remember reading at least.

Was Enzo ever any good? I always viewed him as being fairly well protected up until he met Haye.
He had already been sparked out by Lee Swaby, a guy Tyson Fury battered in his 4th pro fight.

Someone has mentioned on east side boxing that:

According to Barry McGuigan, Afolabi has been giving Wladimir Klitschko"absolute nightmares in sparring".

If Barry made the comments on TV or in his column, then that's probably where I heard/read them. I just assumed that it was an online news site, because the memory of seeing is was a little hazy.

Also, I guess it was only 2 months ago instead of 4-6!

I think it was 'back in the studio' comments made on the Solis/Vitali card , after Afolabi's undercard match (which he'd won).
