I've just heard that John Surtees has passed away at the age of 83.I remember seeing him at the Isle of Man on both Norton and M.Vs,also at various short circuit events,Oulton Park,Aintree Mallory Park and Oliver's Mount. He was one of the greats and liked to win at the slowest speed and not blowing his bike up.After his car racing days were over he competed in classic bike events and I've seen him on various bikes at Pukekohe in New Zealand. One year sticks in my mind when he brought his Vincent Grey Flash over and beat every one including Hugh Anderson who was on the latest Manx Norton.R.I.P. you brought a lot of pleasure to a lot of people and was always willing to chat.
