Dundee Boxer Mike Towell Dies After Glasgow Bout

Desperately sad news. Towell died from severe brain injuries suffered after a stoppage loss to Dale Evans in a British title eliminator at welterweight.

It was a particularly distressing 24 hours for Towell's family after fielding numerous premature reports of his death while Mike continued to fight for his life on a ventilator.

Mike's partner released a statement that suggests Mike had been suffering from severe headaches in the weeks preceding the bout.

Boxers attract all manner of abuse on forums. Often we forget how high the stakes really are.

Mike was 25 and had a young son.

Terrible tragedy for him and the family.....Also a tragedy for Dale Evans who will wrongly feel responsible...

I'm sure that will come out in the wash over the coming days. I'm sure Leavander Johnson complained of the same.
