Good banter on this post though, good to have a good debate

If I was a CoD designer if be looking at the likes of The Division and Destiny and create an open world CoD in a city such as Beirut/Baghdad/Pyongyang with PvE and PVP zones.

In terms of keeping it a franchise sure.

In terms of actually making a good game, no.

How would that work for the likes of domination, hardpoint and s&d?  I don't think it would as its normally about 40% of players in tdm with the rest in other game modes

There would still be zones where you could go in and do traditional CoD. But I'd also be adding war zones where you could team up with others, betray them, steal their stuff and laugh over their corpses.

Good idea with the additional game mode, but having war zones wouldn't work. There are about 10 multiplayer game modes and as such each need their own dedicated servers. Having all game modes within one map with at least 10 different map areas wouldn't work. But I'm all for additional game modes. I hardly play tdm, I'm mostly doing the objective ones like domination.

The Division has a larger 'dark zone' in which it's a free for all but then there's areas in which you can go into smaller zones.

I hear what u are saying, but for cod that just would not work. U can't just have an.open map world with areas within for a multiplayer match.

Cod does not just have standard team death match within multiplayer (one team v the other) you have free for all, domination, search n destroy, capture the flag, gun game, hardpoint, ground war, uplink, kill confirmed and others. Then u have hardcore mode where bullets do more damage with limited HUD for various multiplayer games.

So how do u cater for all that within an open world map where all game modes need their own servers for matchmaking? U can't.

Dropped a 50 bomb today

Black ops was the last COD game I bought. At that point I could see the franchise was being used to milk money from people. Minimal innovation, maximum price. Paying for the map packs was also pushing it!


I liked the simplicity of world at war. Good to see battlefield 1 going back to ww1. I'd like to see more destructable buildings like 'battlefield: bad company' had.


Meanwhile COD

World at War singleplayer was decent but vehicles were implemented badly IMO. The multiplayer wasn't good.

Have just been made aware that Black Ops 1 has now been made Backwards Compatible, so have just re-ordered this to play some old school Zombies!!
