What are your favourite lyrics? The ones that speak to you the most? Or just the ones that you think or effin' great!

2 Badlands- Bruce Springsteen
"Poor man wanna be rich. Rich man wanna be king. And the King ain't satisfied till he rules everything." Dome of my favourite Springsteen lyrics but not one of my favourite songs.

3 Lyin' eyes- The Eagles
"City girls just seem to find out early how to open doors with just a smile. "
Just the song in general is well written but the opening line is class!

Not sure why, but I love the line 'She comes out of the sun in a silk dress, running like a watercolour in the rain' by Al Stewart in Year of the Cat. Just always stands out to me.

Year of the Cat is one of my 'guilty pleasure' albums.

Steely Dan have some great lyrics, or lines in lyrics; like this, the chorus from 'Throw Back the Little Ones':

'Throw back the little ones and pan-fry the big ones,
Use tact, poise and reason and gently squeeze them'

Why the hell would you want to sing about that?!

Anyway, the line "looking for a ruby in a mountain of rocks" in 2 out of 3 Ain't Bad. Actually quite a lot of that song, icicles instead of tears, never drill for oil on city street, etc etc.

I love the opening two verses to Dignity by Deacon Blue.  Absolutely love them.

Beautiful song by an excellent band.............Wages day, Fergus sings the blues, Ragman, Places..............The lead singer wrote the music and he is truly very talented..

Not sure If he is big over here but a hugely respected artist back home is Don Mclean...............American pie is his biggest hit..
