I wasn't convinced any of these guys could pull off an action role but I was pleasantly surprised by all of them.

John Cusack is apparently a real life hard guy - very highly skilled in kickboxing from what I heard.

His fights scenes in Grosse... suggested as much. Surprised he hasn't done more of that sort of thing

Karl Urban as Bones McCoy in the rebooted Star Trek franchise. I just couldn't see it working but he really pulled it off.

Travolta as Chili Palmer in Get Shorty. Yes, it was a giggle after Pulp Fiction but he makes it work.
