Tyson Fury-Kubrat Pulev Purse Bid On May 28th Empty Tyson Fury-Kubrat Pulev Purse Bid On May 28th

Post by Strongback Tue 14 May 2013, 9:21 am

From BoxingScene

Kubrat Pulev's defense of the EBU heavyweight title, that is also a final IBF eliminator against Tyson Fury, might be heading to purse bids and the EBU have set May 28 at noon as deadline. It was announced by the EBU on May 3 that parties - Sauerland and Hennessy Sports - had agreed but apparently there was more to discuss and thus we might get purse bids.

Pulev, 17-0, has been inactive since knocking out Alexander Ustinov in September of last year while waiting for the fog to clear on the IBF eliminators.

Fury, 21-0, knocked out Steve Cunningham April 20 in a IBF eliminator for the # 2 spot in the ratings.

Fury will duck. He will vanish from the earth upon the final second of the fight going to purse bids, then Hennessy will tell everyone that they are moving on to bigger and better things. Then

ITS ROGIE REMATCH TIME!!!!!!!

Lol genuine test of Fury this, and I don't mean the fight itself. Will be his first genuinely live challenge (albeit again someone nowhere near as big as him and with a poor ko ratio) and we'll see if his balls are half as big as his mouth if Team Fury go properly to purse bids rather than pretend they made some kind of offer then dash off to 'bigger and better things' (read 'bums') instead.

If he actually wants a K-bot, taking (and winning) this fight is how he'll do it. Duck and it's case closed.

Only seen the Sprott fight where he wasn't very impressive, but he has experiance of fighting big guys like dimitrenko and Ustinov and beat them both by stoppage if I'm correct after dominating both bouts

Lets see how the purse bids go, and given Tyson's previous history you never know if the fight will even come off

Dimitrenko and Ustinov are better than anything Fury has fought so he has the experience advantage there, the rest of his fights are similar to what Fury has been doing.

Quite a pick 'em fight tbh, if Fury does take it (and win) he'll prove a lot of doubters wrong.

Wouldn't mind seeing this coming to Ireland if they thought they could fill Dublin's o2. I saw Fury on Bernard Dunne's last fight card and the atmosphere was fairly electric. Fury was carp that night though it has to be said.

Maybe I'm the only one on here who just wants to see Fury get in with Klitscho and stop wasting time with drivel like this........

He is what he is......He ain't gonna change..........give it a go........Or go on holiday for two years and come back when they've retired..

Think he is just trying to get himself in mandatory position Truss. As has been discussed countless times on here neither brother is noted for their generosity towards voluntary challengers. As mandatory he will guarantee himself a half decent deal.

You see him fighting a Klit.???

I don't.

But Strongy willl support him.....unlike that ghastly David Haye who tried his luck after cleaning up at cruiser and winning the WBA Heavy crown.

Rather than slating Fury, shouldn't we be congratulating him? We all know his flaws, but it seems that he is going to earn his shot the right way and he should get respect for that

Haye's gots his flaws, both technically and character-wise but he's also seeking to earn a title shot however, he's getting a dog's abuse. Where's the fairness?

As for Fury, think you'd have to take into account the manner of any victory as opposed to the fact he's beaten a "better name than previously" before getting carried away with him (that's about as pleasant as I'm prepared to be towards Fury at this time)

Pulev is such a better boxer than Fury he should make quite light work of him even with the size difference. If the fight happens I think he'll stop a very game Fury late on.

Will this result in the Fury hype train being derailed and him being labelled a worthless bum or will it be seen as an opportunity for him to rebuild his career?

Shame... however, doesn't detract from my point that Haye is also seeking to go about things the "right" way this time

Still I expect him to be called a coward for injuring himself deliberately

Pulev will ruin Fury, i would be very surprised if Hennessy takes Fury down a route where he is likely to be beaten badly before a really big payday.

I havent seen enough of Pulev to have any form of opinion on how he would get on against Fury.

But having seen the embarrassing cringeworth few years of Fury, I'd say it would just take Pulev to be "average" to have a shot at beating him.

Cunningham was outboxing him pretty handily before the weight became a massive factor.

Pulev is a better heavyweight than Cunningham and much stronger too, he a pretty stocky 240lbs on fight night I think, he didn't let size be a factor against Ustinov or Dimitrenko so Fury wading in shouldn't worry him I actually think he might bully Fury a bit on the inside.

As I said I only saw the Sprott fight so I might be making wrong assumptions but his handspeed was ridiculously slow

He's got a good pedigree and good footwork but his lack of handspeed can hurt his chances of pulling off the upset

Would say that the fact Fury has been in the media more etc and is being groomed to fight a K brother whereas Pulev is a bit of an unknown still that Fury would go in as favourite

Yeah but being the British boxer, Fury is bound to gather more media exposure. I'm guessing but I'd bet that if this fight were to be materialize and a prediction thread is made, the majority of posters here will pick Pulev to win.

If Pulev is made an underdog I'll put some money on him, I've not seen the Sprott fight but he was quicker than both Dimitrenko and Ustinov (possibly the slowest thing on two feet). He isn't lightening but I don't see speed as a particular weakness for him.
