Cips and steffan will struggle to get picked for England under this regime.
I think their time has been and gone,we have 3 good young 7's to develop in Fraser, kvesic and wallace and cips is ........... censored

Luke Arscott deserves a shot over Eliot Daly who is lightning quick but hasn't yet got the match nous or defensive ability to play top international rugby.

Alex Goode is a great number 23 as he is a solid back who can cover a few positions.

Burns deserves a shot at ten but Toby Flood is our best 10 on the gain line. Kevsic has really impressed me recently I'd start him with wood and Morgan

I think it would be a bit harsh to leave Johnny May at home after his performances since coming back from injury. I agree with wendy that steffon and cips are way down the picking order at the moment.

R4E's faith in Cipriani is almost scary. We are talking about a man who cannot get in the Sale team as suddenly playing for England Headscratch

Steffon's performance against tigers (then non selection for HEC semi) is surely enough to stop anyone calling for him ahead of Kvesic, Fraser etc.

Joseph has had a quiet season and was poor today against us - may struggle to tour.

Joseph has bulked up to no discernable advantage. He enters contact far too up right and his foot work which made him so dangerous.

1. Marler
2. Webber (been solid and powerful for Bath)
3. Wilson
4. Slater (if fit, if not then Kitchener)
5. Launchbury
6. Wood
7. Robshaw
8. Morgan
9. Care
10. Flood
11. May
12. Barritt (if fit, if not Allen)
13. Tomkins
14. Wade
15. Goode

Big and powerful in the centres who can both offload, secondary playmaker at 15 and a big solid pack to match the Puma's physically.

I'd like to see Allen get another go as I don't think there's an other IC in the AP in better form. Utilise Lindsay, Thomas, Burns and Simpson off the bench to advance their integration into the international squad.

GeordieFalcon's team for me, with Foden at fullback. Also, only minor but I'd have the wingers switched as May has been playing left for Gloucester and Wade on the right for Wasps. I'd also expect the second rows to wear the opposite shirts from how you've listed them. Player wise, spot on though. Exactly how I'd play it. Trinder was v.impressive for glos yesterday vs Exeter so could have a decent chance of travelling.

I'd have Foden nowhere near the squad, his defensive display against Quins was dire. I think he's still short of form and if he defends like that (running straight past the ball for a Quins try) he'll be a liability.

I am not a fan of resting players, all those not on the lions tour should be involved, although I do expect to see some rotation to test out new combinations.

I think it is definately time for mike brown to start at full back, i just think he will have more impact in attack than goode.

I wanted wade involved in the 6 nations, so i think he should start the first test for sure. Perhaps wade and may should have a test each.

The centre is interesting with tuilagi with the lions, barritt, 12trees and tomkins to share the test slots.

Flood and care at half back with more game time for burns.

I dont think robshaw should be rested at all, he should start alongside wood and morgan and the likes of fraser, billy v and Kvesic involved from the bench.

2nd row is a bit tricky as parling the lineout leader with the lions. I think we could see robson in the starting 15, I dont think lancaster will pick 2 young locks so robson could be the sensible choice. Lawes still deserves to be there despite struggling with injury and form this year and my favourite of the young pretenders is Kitchener.

Dave wilson has had a great season, every time i have seen him he has impressed me and this is his chance. At hooker 2 guys away with the lions means we are down to 3rd and 4th, i think webbers form since retruning from long term injury return has put him ahead of the other contenders. Marler and corbs will be the looseheads.

So, I'd say the key objectives of the tour are:

- try out some of the young wingers (May and Wade to start every game between them)
- try out some of the young 7s (leave Robshaw at home)
- try to find some midfield creativity (leave Barritt at home).

I'd also give Launchbury the summer off.

I'd also say that we need to look into other options for certain positions, for example we know what the likes of Haskell, Lawes and Goode offer, some time to look at other options - as long as we don't sacrifice on experience too much.

I'd actually have a look at Lawes, because I don't think we do know what he offers at the moment.

I can't see Goode being the long-term answer at FB, so I'd look elsewhere (such as Elliot Daly).

Robshaw and some others, who may be on Lions replacement standby, are likely to be given the summer off. I expect a largely Saxons team to tour, plus a few old heads. Wood is likely to be captain imo.

The squad is announced on Wednesday I think.

Argentina will have the RC to worry about, so England will be facing a lot of club players based in Argentina - i.e. semi pro level. No need to take everyone who hasn't made the Lions cut for this tour.

I dont think robshaw should be rested at all, he should start alongside wood and morgan and the likes of fraser, billy v and Kvesic involved from the bench.

I think for squad depth and England progression it would be nice to see where we are if Robshaw is out...or indeed do Kvesic and Fraser move the team forward as out and out 7's?? Resting Robshaw is a win win situation...he gets to totally recharge, we view what else we have...and ultimately...whilst Robshaw has been our best player, no player should be irreplaceable.

Robson is never an international. He just looks too lightweight. I elected to go with Attwood and Launchbury in the middle, with Wood offering the main lineout option at 6. If we go for a second row lineout specialist i would rather go with Kitchener...at least he has some size and offers more than Robson around the park aswell as the lineout.

I am looking forward to seeing who Lancaster names tomorrow (I think?).

I hope that Robshaw is given a rest, not only to give him a chance to recharge, but barring injury its hard to see what other opportunities there will be to test out other options if Robshaw remains as captain for the AI's and 6N's.

Am I the only one who thinks we could do worse than giving Arscott a runout at fullback in the midweek games?

Yes, tomorrow and it will be fascinating. If its a poor dull squad of average hard workers mind, my support for him will begin to waver...

My thoughts exactly...there arent going to be many other oppertunites to play some of the fringe players / young pretenders in a few games against a physical competitve side, that doesnt matter necesarily about the outcome.

Am I the only one who thinks we could do worse than giving Arscott a runout at fullback in the midweek games?
Only 4 games mate...Barbarians, A South America select (Uruguay,Chile, Brazil etc) then two tests v Argentina.
Arscott might be an option but i think Brown and Foden will travel as FB options.

Do you think Foden will travel Geordie?

I will be disappointed if SL just goes for the same team that plays Wales but with the Lions players replaced. At least one of the non test games should be seen as a Saxons game surely? I can see no value in seeing our 1st XV destroying amateur players to boost their try scoring stats.

Despite the fact that SL has introduced a number of players to the England set up, I get the sense he is still quite conservative and overly loyal. Many of the players he has brought in have come from the age group/Saxons teams he managed and I fear that he won;t use this as an opportunity to blood a few players and try some different combinations. A tour of Argentina should never be taken lightly, but they are going to be without all of their European based players and a large proportion of their squad will be semi-pros.

There are a number of people/combinations that need to start. Wilson deserves a run of starts and against even semi-pro Argentinian props you need some experience, so now is not the time to be chucking Thomas in as a starter. Ed Slater deserves to start too. Personally I don;t feel he'll make the step up to international level, but he deserves his chance and I'd love to be proved wrong. Fraser or Kvesic both need to tour as we need to see England play with a proper 7.

Whilst Burns hasn't been on form recently as it sounds like Flood will be left at home he should be given a crack and for then love of God don't let Cipriani anywhere near that team! 36 and Tomkins should be the centres and would offer something very different to Barritt and Tuilagi - they can both pass for one! And please, please SL play with wingers on the wing! Brown should be the starting 15 and Ashton should be left at home.

I really don't see the point of even suggesting a backrow like that. What would SL learn? This is a development tour, and it is meant to expose depth in positions. I like the backline, though I think we could rest Barritt and find another 13. I don't think that 4/5 combination could work just yet, until one of them fills out a bit more. Lawes for Attwood for me.

Not at all. Wood as Captain would be a fantastic choice, so long as he skippers from blindside and no where near the number 8 position.

So what planet rugby are saying is that we only have one 13 in England and so there is no point in even thinking about planning for a situation where Manu is unavailable.

People in their proper positions please!

I think it's just lazy journalism to be honest.PR have picked a side with no thought to it.
Basically looked at who is with the lions and and gone through the .eps to fill in the blanks(except for the wings who can't stop scoring).
