Awful commentary on SKY..........

Last night was shocking..You'd never have guessed the Commentator wanted Crolla to win........"Great defence there by Crolla"...Crolla landed there" despite Matthews landing plenty..........

As for Bellew I didn't see a shocker...........For sure Bellew might have nicked it but his opponent weathered the early assault and took control of the later rounds.........

Watt say's what he thinks his audience wants to hear as for the other guy........ back to local radio please..............

I didnt think he was that bad at all to be honest. I didnt think he was pro Crolla. He called the fight pretty fairly for me.

Well over the whole fight he made plenty of pro Matthews comments saying he was boxing a better gameplan, using more experience, mentally better prepared. If you wanted bias then Paul Simth Jr was your man. He had it an easy decision to Crolla. Watt said in the mid rounds that it looked like Crolla might not have the mental strength to dig it out over Matthews. He gave the fight to Crolla by a point or along those lines which I dont think was an act of bias. Personally I thought his commentary was fine. Its a subjective sport so few commentators are going to be agreed with universally and I have disgreed with some of Watts analysis or commentary in the past but I do think people tend to hear what they want to hear with him aswell. His comments in the Bellew fight were fair enough also I thought, despite the fact I didnt agree with his card overall. The jist of what he was saying was that he though Bellew won but not convincingly or effectively and more through winning most of the first half of the fight through workrate alone.

I watched the fight in a bar in Spain with no sound and to be honest I was shocked that a draw was given. I'd have to see it again but I had Matthews winning clearly and didn't give Crolla anything until late.
I saw at about round 8 Brian Rose had Crolla 2 rounds up and that stunned me.
Jim Watt really does influence.

I didn't think the Commentary in the Crolla v Matthews fight was too bad from Watt and Halling.

I did, however, think Halling was way off the mark with his indignation at the draw and the 4 round card to Chilemba. A lot of people had Chilemba winning the fight.

What was clearly bad was that Chilemba was continually catching Bellew with slick counter punches which Watt and Halling apparently did not see.

Halling is getting criticized by a lot of peole which I agree with.


Watt having Bellew 3 up at the end must have been a diktat from the Sky production team.

Personally I found it a hard fight to score. It doesn't surprise me that there are huge disparities. Scrappy fights are like that.

I didn't even bother trying to score it, wouldn't have had any complaints with any scorecard really, it could have easily have been a four point fight to Chilemba or Bellew so a draw seems about right to me.

I thought the outrage was directed more at the 116-112 card to Chilemba, which in all fariness I think was wide. To say Bellew only won 4 rounds in the whole fight and not even split another? I wouldnt agree with that. Had the card been 115-113 then Im not sure the reaction would have been as strong. Chilemba looked the better boxer for me when he eventually settled but the first half of the fight he really did very little offensively which is a dangerous thing to do in your opponents back yard.

I had it by 2 to Chilemba but I could see an argument for 4. I read an American fight report this morning and he had it 117-111 to Chilemba. I thought Chilemba took the centre of the ring in round 5 and controlled the fight from there on in. Some of the latter rounds were very close but I had Chilemba winning 7 overall with Bellew getting 3 of the first 4. My view was he was making Bellew miss and delivering some very slick counter punches. By the sound of the crowd or lack of it they seemed to think Bellew had lost as well.

I think the indignation of Halling had bugged a lot of people reading the boxing boards.

I thought the second half of the fight belonged to Chilemba. I would agree that the quality work was coming from him then and he was fighting the contest on his terms and pace. Bellew ran out of ideas and couldnt get to grips with him. But there were alot of nip tuck rounds because it was fought at a low tempo and over the first half of the fight I really thought Chilemba threw it away. His own corner had to give him a dressing down to actually get ot there and start working. So personally I couldnt see Chilemba winning it wide. The general reaction I got was that the fight was close and a draw not particularly unfair with either fighter capable of nicking it. I think the reaction of the crowd was largely because a draw is a hard to get excited about either way and as a contest it didnt thrill. They came hoping for a performance from Bellew and the whole fight never really came to the boil aside from an agggressive opening from Bellew. The crowd I think sensed that it was close but there wasnt enough action to keep them involved.

The thing with fights is people forget it's round scoring when moaning about robberies..

Now I could completely dominate 6 rounds and you could nick six...

and It's a draw.........simple as..

lets be fair, glen mccory called a draw for the bellew fight, and the opinion was split in both fights with glen, johny and the other guys. watt calls the action the way he see's it i don't think he has an agenda, its the other commentator who doesnt know what he is on about.

i thought with regards to both draws, bellew and crolla deserved the nod, bellew more so, but they were points in both fights were they could have made sure but took the foot of the gas, and made it closer than it should have been.

I thought bellew won as chilembas was hard to score for. But it was a dreadful fight and bellew only had himself to blame for not making it clearer.

The biggest loser was those watching. I imagine the different score cards were due to the judges nodding off during 'the action'

I wouldn't demand a rematch, just because the fight was so poor.

As Manos alluded to...You kind of worry for Bellew If Plan A doesn't work!!

apparently he comes with 3 plans, i think he should just of tried pushing the pace and coming forwards like he did early on, as soon as he tried boxing he gave chimbela time to think.

I just don't think I see "it" with Bellew, something missing. He is good, hits with good but not great power, but just seems to be a bit "Theo Walcott" if that makes any sense. Just never seems to have it right tactically when he has to make the decisions when theres changes to be made.

The pro Crolla commentary for a while was just ridiculous, Jim Watt was doing his best to try and level things up though with plenty back in favour of Matthews.

As for the Bellew fight, yeah, a bit too pro Bellew but he's the home fighter so I kind of get the support but at least score it right. Robbery it was not though.

It wasn't a robbery, I thought Bellew won, purely because I wasn't impressed with Chilemba's work. In my opinion if you are on the back foot, then you really need to show that you are the one that is controlling the action not your opponent. Granted he had some classy moments and made Bellew look average at times, but for me he didn't do enough.

Had he thrown more and had more urgency he would have won. That said I do not want to see a rematch, it was a terrible fight.

Bellew should have stopped trying to throw punches from the back of the room, listened to his corner and thrown to the body. You can't always blast someone out of there, he was very slippery and Bellew should have concentrated on hitting the target.

i had it as a robbery, but thats because i saw a lot of the close rounds to bellew, but i if you preferred chimbelas work then it would be close, and possibly chimbelas fight, thats the type of fight it was.

as you say his corner were telling him the right things all fight, but he wasnt listening. bellew needs to calm down and relax, i think he definetly has it in him to win a title, but a few more fights will do him well, the draw might have been a blessing, i'd like to see bellew fight another contender, and then rematch chimbela.

Slows Bellew's career down...so it isn't a blessing.

Halling was awful. He was extremely pro-Crolla. He even said the rematch "topped the first fight", which was ridiculous.

Halling also sympathised with Bellew, which again seemed odd.

Watt was Ok in the Crolla fight but lost his way in the Bellew fight (probably drifted off to sleep like the rest of us).
