NBA League?

Hey Guys.

I've found that I've caught the bug of NBA having watched a few games on Sky over the past couple of months and it's something I'm rapidly getting into. I've been a member on here for a while now and have been involved in various leagues so I'm just putting this out there for now, but if the numbers were good and there was plenty of interest, perhaps we could try and put an NBA 606 League together

Thoughts? Opinions? How Could we get a League to work, perhaps having Drafts & Play-Offs. Tactics for each game and Such?

Can't wait for the playoffs now it's going to be epic. I'm a Chicago Bulls fans and the return of Derrick Rose is going to be something special, hopefully he's as good as pre-injury. ACL's popping up everywhere this year. Anyone see that leg break of Kevin Ware this week - gruesome. Tough game.

Sky doing a good job of their coverage and I hear this weekend is the Los Angeles Lakers vs Clippers......should be a good game.

I'm in! Seeing as this is NBA, would we construct our teams using the CBA? That would take effort, but it would make the league so much more fun!

Kind of feel for Sacramento with the Thunder rolling up at OKC so I hope they get some kind of team soon... Saying that you think it might be worth setting up an NBA thread so it stays relevant to topic and leave this for a potential league thread?

The Supersonics decision has been currently delayed. It makes more sense for it to happen in my opinion. Sacramento are just small fry and need some kind of major overhaul in order to compete at the very top. Also New Orleans are renamed 'Pelicans' next year after changing from 'Hornets'.

Looking forward to playoffs now. Miami vs Chicago on Sunday (SKY).

maybe with enough interest we could get basketball and the NBA its own section on the main forum

how many people would you want in the league enigma?

Honestly about 12, then we'd have to all figure out how the league would run ect to determine results, drafts and divided leagues, play-offs that kind of stuff Bullski

you could list at the top the people who are in to see how many more we need

I think we should aim for 8 and then if we get more interest make it 12 the following season or whatever?

There are loads of different ways the league can be done so im quite excited to see what you come up with

Ideally I'd like to see 12. Opens up the potential for a east and west league with the option of having the top 4 in each league make the play-offs. We could also play each other twice meaning we have a total of 22 league games. Would also be fun if we could select our own teams

I'm not looking to take total ownership of the league, I could do with CO-Running the league because I'm not 100% of everything as I'm still learning so the experienced heads of the NBA league will have to help run things!

Well that's a pretty good start with 7 GM's. I'd honestly be wanting a lot of help and support from the more experienced NBA fans here such as John & Kingraf in helping run this league if you were both up for the task & Bull I'd be happy to see you join as long as you don't throw your toys out the pram and quit if your not getting your own way!!

So, hopefully, We'll try and get this league off this ground towards the end of May with all the rules and teams decided. I could do with some open source ideas on what we do with this league, e.g what to put in tactics and the length of them, how to determine scores.. but the shorter the sweeter IMO.

Couple of ideas I've had.

12 Teams - 2 Leagues: East & West League
11 fixtures - Play each team once, but if the demand was there for it, we could have 22 fixtures and play home & away

Tactics - Submit a length of 5 lines maximum
Tactics - to be submitted once a week, with votes and feedback following

GM's can pick their own teams - Bulls, Heat etc.. when the league is open
Draft - Select 5 players from the draft, these compose of players from teams that are not picked in the game, or from college or rest of the world.

Play-Offs - Best of 3 for each bracket

Is this a fantasy league, whereby we create our own team, or one in which we take charge of the existing stables team stables?

Because there will be very few of us, in comparison to how many players there are, I think the best option would be for a IPL style bidding process, if we are creating a fantasy team.

Heres how it would work (fitst draft, so some ideas may be great, while others discarded, I wont be offended).
*Give players a minimum base price, LeBron- 15
Chris paul 10
Jeremy lin 5
mike miller 3
chris copeland 1
and veteran journeymen (Camby, Andersen 0.5)

*Create a bidding process whereby we directly bid against each other for players.
*Everyone creates a minimum 12- max 15 man roster. From there its a little tricky.. any suggestions?

for drafts every one gets two picks, which can be traded for an established player. I.e Bulls acquire James Harden for 8 million, then the Mavericks Give the Bulls a draft and Dirk Nowitzki for Harden.

I don't know if it it's me, but I'd enjoy being in charge of a proper franchise. It also balances out the playing field as it's likely that the better teams will be selected then those teams that are left, all the players can then be bought in the draft (Almost like Foreign Bids) where each GM is given two bids a week.
