On Thursday 14th March, “The Greatest Intercontinental Champion of All Time”, The Honky Tonk Man, joined Adam and Gavin for a very special edition of the v2 wrestling podcast!

Fresh from his guest appearance on WWE Raw last week, Honky was generous enough to spare us half an hour of his time as we discussed the state of today’s WWE as well as his record-breaking run as Intercontinental champion in the late 80s.

Honky was engaging, candid and entertaining throughout, and told some great stories about his career, including a confession that he didn’t originally think the Undertaker gimmick had any longevity! He also addressed a long-standing rumour about his refusal to drop the IC belt on a 1988 Saturday Night’s Main Event.

He was full of praise for the current generation of wrestlers, and shared his thoughts on today’s most exciting prospects.

This interview is a massive coup for the podcast, and we would recommend it to any wrestling fan, especially those who grew up watching Honky.

I can confirm it was much more exciting than talking to Hero and Chris.

@v2Journal Honkey Tonk man is just what he says he is, an Elvis knock off, that can't sing nor play a guitar. For sure he can't wrestle!

Please tell me youve tried to get him on the podcast?! Or you can send me and Gav to interview him at Mania!

An excellent listen, some of the stories were really enlightening....especially the ones about how he got the belt and when he threatened to leave WWF. Well done guys, hopefully he'll agree to return in the future, possibly as part of the podcast?
