Tomic now stepping up

Tomic is playing an awesome game against Tsonga in Marsille, he is not playing he is playing a very attacking tennis against an outright attack player, with 1 set each and 2-1 in the 3rd set they are dead locked, a good win here would boost the confidence of the young man to a great extent.

As usual the detractors want to write this kid off way too soon. I think he has real potential to be among the best. However he does have to show more intelligence and maturity because at the end of the day brains in sport like tennis and the quality of your decision making on and off the court figure in big time when it comes to the success you have.

He has a very unusual and talented FH...can play some really weird shots with it. He is talented and I'm sure will do well, but he's not mentally strong enough IMO to push for the very top...plus he's 6'5' and those size of guys have never dominated before. Still, no reason in the years ahead that he cant get to slam finals...someone has to!

Is he really six five, I thought he was about six three and change, he moves exceptionally well for a guy that size though which should help him.

Tsonga is playing too good yet Tomic is standing upright against him without getting intimidated, ripping bakchand to save breakpoint and go ahead 5-4 in the 3rd, so far great quality display, Now Tsonga have to serve to stay in the match.

Believe it or not Tomic playing superb, ripping backhands, unreturnable serves on crucial moments, big second serves, great movements on oth sides of the court [however bad towards the net].

To add further Tsonga is playing his best yet Tomic able to stand up with him.

Tsonga wins, but it was a great performance by Tomic, Tsonga won coz he played like the champ and not coz Tomic collapsed.

Well that is a shame he lost after so many match points. Still it shows that the younger guys are starting round into shape but that the development is a bit slower in the past. Tomic playing well, JJ coming on the scene, and Dimitrov is much improved as well. As I stated the modern game requires a different more taxing skill set and the youngsters will probably take a couple of years of polishing to get there. I just don't think you can blast your way to the top at 18 and 19 anymore like in the old days.

Wasn't the rumour that Tomic's dad falsified his birth date and he's actually 2 years older...?

Well sad day for the youngsters, both Tomic and JJ played great to lose in a tight 3 set match, Tomic played brilliant in the end Tsonga's experience saved him, it was a great match, for people who missed it catch in on highlights so many great shots from both players.
