The Following
Starts Tuesday 22nd January 10pm Sky Atlantic
Anyone going to watch this ? It looks good from the trailers i have seen .
The premise of the show is
About a FBI agent who finds himself in the middle of a network of serial killers, Joe Carroll a former college professor who taught the works of Poe and killed young women in the gothic hero's honor—until he got caught. Since then he's been spending hours on a computer in the prison library, building a social network of copycat killers who hang on his every command. When the series begins, he's just escaped from death row with help from those followers, and the FBI calls in former agent Ryan Hardy who brought down Joe the first time—to consult on the case and try and stop anymore killings . Kevin Bacon is FBI agent Hardy and James Purefoy is the serial killer Carroll .

Re: The Following
I will try and stay with this series I think the mind games between Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy will be interesting. Does anyone know if this is a one off series or a long running deal I think there are ten episodes in this run

I thought it had the feeling of a film rather then a tv series , anyone else get that ?

Re: The Following
Its only one episode into its US run as a mid season show, its to early for there to be any news on it being picked up for future seasons as of yet.
Whether its a one of season or a long running deal will mostly depend, like most other shows, on the viewer numbers/trend it generates during its first season.

Re: The Following
Base on ratings after 3 episodes I'd say its extremely likely to be renewed for a 2nd season. Something would need to go drastically wrong for it to be cancelled.

Re: The Following
15 episodes would probably worry me in terms of episodes being dragged out and many becoming 'filler' episodes. It's great so far and I hope it keeps it up but 15 I think is too much in my opinion. I guess I shouldn't complain as I've been desperate for something great to watch since Homeland finished.

Yer a good episode, not a cracker compared to the last but continuing a good series.

Re: The Following
Do you think they'll introduce more Followers as the series progresses or limit it to the two guys & the girl? My mate in work is convinced the young cop (mike?) is a Jim Carroll follower as he knows a little too much about Ryan Hardy.

Re: The Following
Interesting episode. I was worried when it turned into a hostage situation because usually the episodes turn boring with not much action, however this one wasn't too bad and the last twenty minutes were great. I said that blonde cop was in on it, way too obvious. She had too many lines and was too attractive for a cop and she was basically running the show ahead of her apparent superior.
All in all, very pleased with this series.

Great episode, login this series. Thought Weston was definitely dead, glad he's not though. Real strange behaviour going on towards the end. Tense stuff all round.

Re: The Following
My Mrs is well into this and I think it utter crap. You know it's a bad crime drama when you think of solutions quicker than the police in the episode. I just find myself saying things like: "wealthy didn't they just call for help" or "why did nobody stop her".
Also, if I hear James Purefoy say "most helpful" one more time, I'm going to smash my television.

Last couple of episodes have just faded off for me, kind of dragging on now and there quite predictable. Hoping for a good season ending though to a good series.

Thought this weeks episode was the best for a couple of weeks .
Hardy getting the upper hand , Joe seeming to be losing it . And didn't expect the final scene

Re: The Following
yeah, just got round to watching the ending. So is Carroll really dead? Wasn't truly confirmed was it, only by the media? Great ending though and I'm sure they will survive. Be interesting how it unfolds, was a really good enjoyable series. Might try Banshee tonight.

Re: The Following
I dont think Carroll is dead , i think this happened
I watched Banshee , it wasn't bad . The future clips of episodes look like it will get better also
- Spoiler:
- I think the body was the guy who was tied up in the room (the boat captain ) i think he was a follower , he was roughly the same height and weight and had probably had dental work to match Joes and his part in the book was to enable Joes escape

Re: The Following
Exactly my thinking. I mean taking him out the series is like taking Brody out of Homeland....would just not make sense and would just not feel right for the future of the show. I mean, I couldn't watch that Emma girl taking over or that other ginger haired woman, just wouldn't feel realistic to me.

Re: The Following
I got this for christmas.
2 of us started watching it new years day.
Finished it last night(pretty keen).
Enjoyable series all round.
Purefoy was excellent in it.
I dont think Carrol is dead either.
Wouldnt be the same without him.
Look forward to the second series.

interesting twist, glad that carroll is on his way back now, being stuck out in that caravan was boring for me.

Re: The Following
- Spoiler:
- Yeah i said to my fiance that the art woman was in on it, considering everyone else on that train died and all she did was get stabbed in the arm...
Also, i think there's more to the story of her being the mother of the twins. I wonder if they're biologically her sons or they have some weird roleplay going on. I wonder this because the twins killed that couple and pretended they were their parents...would they do that if their actual mother was alive?

Re: The Following
Not sure about this season at the minute, kind of got the feeling of predictability about it now. I mean its like Scream movies, there's only so many stabbings you can do etc before it gets boring. Now Carroll's linked up with Lily it should get more interesting, however, the big house in the country, FBI find it and storm it......we've seen n done that before.

It's hilariously bad. The public never help anyone, never stop killers.

If what i think will happen happens it would give a massive season finale while also giving a third series a newer direction to go
