First topic message reminder :
Anybody still playing this? I recently started again after losing my save and have decided to use nothing but magic. Just completed Bleak falls barrow so the first thing I'm doing is all the side quests.

Re: Skyrim
I didn't know you could do that with shops, that would be quite handy.
You could go and see that Heimskr guy for counselling, he'd sort you out with his constant droning...there's a great YouTube video of someone wabbajacking him in his sleep

I believe you can marry a skill trainer, have them train you then take the money out their inventory

Re: Skyrim
Well you know what they say, what's mine is yours
I finished the Companions quest where you kill the witches, and have started the next one. I got Vilkas to train me 5 times at 2-handed (even though I don't use the skill), and got myself up to level 33
Spent the upgrade on 10 magicka plus the smithing perk that allows you to improve magic weapons. I want decent armour!

Yeah, if you can get them as a follower, tell them to go with you , ask them to train you then go into their inventory and take the money back. Cuts out the marriage
Do you keep all your plundered loot in one house? Most of my stuff is in the drawer on the left in Whiterun. I am going to count how much stuff I have in there, it must be a few hundred. I have too much time on my hands.

Re: Skyrim
In the end table at the entrance to Breezehome I currently have something like:
3x heavy armour (various magical improvements)
2x lightning staff
2x fireball staff
1x magic dwarven hammer
15x dragon bone
40x potions of various descriptions
That is the world's biggest table.

Having not played Skyrim for a month, I've racked up 14 hours of play in the last week. Not bad for a guy that has to wait until his wife falls asleep on the sofa in the evenings before he can play XBOX

Made about 10 points in Smithing just by clearing the gold mine near markarth, mining it dry, then making gold rings

About 48 since you get 2 per gold bar. Made me about 1.5k as well

On top of the 600 gold you get for clearing the mine. Pretty worthwhile quest. Go right out of Markarth to pick it up.

Re: Skyrim
I got 20mins of Skyrim time last night, and have half-cleared the Silver Hand hideout I'm at. Used the Sanguine Rose for the first time too - the Dremora it raised killed two Silver Hand fighters with a single blow each

Re: Skyrim
Completed the war last night, tbh I was a little underwhelmed with that campaign, it was pretty much attack a fort, attack a town, repeat and rinse. Would have liked a bit more variety in it and perhaps named characters protecting the forts. Operate some siege equipment? Have battles out on the plains with different types of troops in actual formations etc (archers, spearmen, cavalry etc).

Re: Skyrim
I think they might do stuff like that in future DLCs, or in the next edition of the game in 2016 or whenever they're doing it for.Hero wrote:Completed the war last night, tbh I was a little underwhelmed with that campaign, it was pretty much attack a fort, attack a town, repeat and rinse. I've stopped doing the war ones because I have to find a courier. I'm an adventurer not a trained monkey!

I've got the lightbringer sword but I don't use it being that I'm a rogue. Used to use it last time round with my pyromage when needed to get into melee.

I don't think I need it then, it's been about 30 hours of gaming time since I last came across anything undead that was of any difficulty. Even dragons aren't that hard now, unless there's multiples.

Re: Skyrim
I think the top end undead can still pose a problem, the ones that can shout especially.

I'm going to carry on with the Dark Brotherhood quests tonight, I started them off and then wondered why it didnt go anywhere after I killed the Orphanage woman, just looked it up and it's because I've not slept in a bed since.
God my character must be well knackered, I've gone through several seasons without doing that, actually they're never eaten food either.

I love how all the kids go 'yeah, awesome, you're so cool'. Kids are sick these days.
I always make sure I go back to Breezehome and get a good night's kip, it gives you a well-rested bonus. I always try and eat a mammoth steak too, keep my strength up

I've killed a handful of mammoths, it just takes a while with all their health. Plus running backwards get boring after a while...

Love the power you get from completing the Thieves Guild where once per day you can just make crowds fight to the death. Going to try it on some giants and mammoths next.

Wait, what? I am doing that after I've sorted out the Companions quest line. That sounds pretty handy!

Re: Skyrim
You get to choose between 3 powers that you can return and change if you wish.
Strife: Instantly absorb 100 health from a target
Subterfuge: Enemies in spell area of ef effect attack anyone nearby for 30 seconds
Shadow: Turn invisible whilst sneaking for 2 minutes.
Have you also found any Guardian Stones?

Re: Skyrim
Not yet, only the ones at the start of the game...there's so much to do, it all takes forever! My current plan is:
1. Finish clearing out this Silver Hand hideout
2. Go back to Sky Haven Temple and find the treasure room (missed it when I was there)
3. Do the last Companions quest
4. Start the Thieves Guild quest line
What else should I be adding to that?

Re: Skyrim
Have you got any of the expansions?
I've got the first one but can't find the ruddy headquarters of them, keep wandering around the bottom right hand corner of the map where it tells me to go but cannot find a way through.
Not started the Companions quests yet, did it last time round though.
Bards & Mage quest lines?

No expansions, no.
On the mage line I've got as far as needing to find the three books, but again, that doesn't sound very fun. Although I'm told it leads to Dwemer ruins and stuff like that?

Re: Skyrim
The Bard line I've not started yet, he wants me to find a book. Always books and couriers and letters...I want a nice simple mission like 'kill x'. Much easier than this traipsing around Skyrim looking for toot.
