Worst WWE send off's! Empty Worst WWE send off's!

Post by Fadorock Tue 12 Apr 2011, 3:26 pm

Last night I thought Edge had a nice send off, he got change to speak to the crowd and has also left as a champion, however for a wrestler of his stature its a pity (due to medical necessity to retire immediately) that WWE were unable to give him a more dramatic send off or at least on a bigger scale.

This got me thinking, what are some of the worst send offs in WWE history? Now for this question I only mean sned offs for wrestlers who have at least some history or success attached to them, jokers and jobbers come and go sometimes without acknowledgement, but what I mean are people who you would expect to get a bit of a fanfare and receive none, or even worse.

The obvious one would be Brett, but for some reason I also think of JBL, he had been at the WWE for years and had main evented for a period of time, and his swan song was jobbing to mysterio in a squash match only to shout i quit and storm out. Hardly memorable (did he even get to say bye on the next episode of RAW?).

Can you guys think of other very poor or disrespectful send offs/retirements?

Lita.

Batista was humbled pretty badly last year, I think of the promo in a wheelchair and the successive defeats to Cena. For a guy of his size, that's not really the way I expected him to go out.

Montreal 1997 has to be the worst send off ever.

Seriously though, really enjoyed Edge's speech but his send fof should have been the main event and some sort of guard of honour formed by the other wrestlers. Maybe they will do something more high profile on Smackdown.

Think Batista was a great shout for a bad send off, he deserved better

The difference is probably that Edge was forced to retire whereas guys like Batista chose to despite VKM's investments into them. His pettiness basically...

Pinned by Mickey James in her last match, then humiliated by Cryme Tyme of all people, who came out and sold her personal items in a 'ho sale'. Bear in mind Lita was retiring due to harrassment she was getting from fans over the affair with Edge. Harsh way to go out, but that's the WWE for you!!

Lita's was particularly bad when you consider the send-off Trish Stratus had a couple of months earlier and the fact that she specifically asked WWE not to do the Cryme Tyme skit. Vince probably thought that Lita was leaving him in the lurch so went ahead with it. I'm sure his justification for it was "She's a heel".

I'm guessing JBL would have wanted to go out in the manner he did, similar to Chris Jericho when he first left WWE in 2005. Y2J wanted to go out as the whining, snivelling heel and did just that when he begged Eric Bischoff for his job and was carted out by security.

I'm guessing Edge will have a full shebang send-off on Smackdown, with video packages and wrestlers talking about his career. It's only fitting seeing as in recent years he's probably been more associated with Smackdown than RAW.

How about Hulk Hogan's WWF send-off in 1993, jobbing to Yokozuna at King of the Ring?

JBL went out exactly the way he wanted to, he felt the JBL character should be humiliated and rightly was

Jeff Hardy's last act in the WWE was being beaten to a pulp by Punk but in fairness they expected Hardy back to work WrestleMania so it wasn't a burial

Angle requested early release from his contract. He didnt get a send off.

Paul Heyman has a crabby one in 04 when he quit as Smackdown GM after being drafted to RAW.

The Rock didnt have a particularly glorius send off - jobbing to Goldberg.

JBL sticks out for me. Although he asked for it i feel he should of been given a bit better than that. and especially as it was Mysterio, surely they would of used someone credible of being able to beat someone in 9 seconds.

Lita's was terrible aswell.

On a side note how do you think the Undertaker will bow out? do you think it will be in his gimmick style were he just disappears or will he get the whole Ric Flair or Shawn Michaels one? I've always been intrigued to see how he will go.

Lita's was bad because she had done so much to help establish the diva's at that time.

Jbl wanted his to be like that, though thought the match could have lasted longer.

Batista's, i thought was because Vince expected him to sign a new contract and
he was saying he would, and then he just renaged at the last moment, causing
Vince to be his petty self again, though with some reason this time,i could be wrong
though.

As for the undertaker, i would have him go as his gimmack, Then on Raw/Smackdown
have like a fneralfor him, with just his picture in the ring,as stars past and present
comedown to say goodbye, and then the gong, the arena to go black with just
touches lighting it, and Undi's voice coming overr the speakers to say his goodbyes.

Batista had a contract offer on the table but was unsure if he wanted to stay with WWE or take a break from wrestling and try other things. While he was deliberating, Vince took Batista out of a WWE movie role that he'd been signed up for and gave it to Triple H instead, and then sent Batista on one of those looooong European tours that he was not initially booked on. Big Dave did the tour and then said "Sod this, I'm leaving". Vince was apparently surprised by this turn of events. Go figure!

I don't know how you can complain about JBL when you yourself acknoowledge thats exactly how he wanted to go, he also requested to work with Rey because he is good friends with him, they had their proper match the previous week on RAW where Rey won the IC Title from him, WrestleMania was the moment his character could get humiliated out of the WWE, that was the whole point, the match lasted 9 seconds or so but the promo he did was about 5 minutes long

Thanks for clearing that up for me Y2.

I new it was something to do with a contract, just not sure of
the exact details.

Just goes to show how petty Vince can be when he wants to be,
dosn't it.

I found it strange why Vince wasn't easier to deal with regarding Batista, while I was never a fan there is no doubt he finally found his true character and could have been a top heel for the WWE for a couple of years, and with a good heel you have the potential to make a couple of top faces

That doesn't matter, Lita wasn't a huge draw herself.

He was deemed good enough to stay employed by Vince and is seen as a rather vital road agent, his retirement should have gathered more news than it did.

Good point.

What was Mick Foley's send off like? Did he ever get one?

Foley got a good send off, he worked an angle with Edge and Edge near on killed him, it should be noted that being put out like that is a sign of respect in Pro Wrestling
