Re: ROLAND GARROS DAY 7
Ferrer has capitalised on Youzhny's errors very well, up two sets.

Re: ROLAND GARROS DAY 7
Ferrer 3-2 third set, two sets to love up 6-0 6-2
Maybe the predictions that Ferrer would make the semi-finals are not too far-fetched. The stats are indicating that Youzhny is playing not well at all (very poor serving stats), but Ferrer is doing the business
................Ferrer..........Youzhny
Winners....10...............14
UE.............11..............35
Ferrer doesn't seem to have the/a big weapons in order to win a slam, but he has everything else (a solid all round game, movement, endurance etc).

Nice work Haddie
Loving this (one-sided) match between Youhnzy and Ferrer. Mikhail has a 4-2 H2H vs Ferrer but you wouldn't think so in this match. Youhnzy is good value to watch, esp. with that unique BH of his. He engaged the crowd well after winning his 1st game by writing "SORRY" into the clay...the game needs characters like him.

I know that Ferrer is not rated among some posters but I never never fail to be amazed at his retrieval and court coverage. He may, according to some, have not a very imaginative or inspirational game but he gets the results and I have enormous respect for the little man. Well worthy of his ranking imo

Re: ROLAND GARROS DAY 7
I agree Haddie. Whether you like his game or not you can't deny his professionalism. He is a model professional. A real fine example for the youngsters. Always gives it 100%. Never complains, misbehaves or makes excuses. Rarely even challenges line calls.
I was thinking about him the other day.
Since you live in Spain, perhaps you can answer the following question.
Does Ferrer get any sponsorship deals? He's the perrenial number 5-6 in the world, but I am yet to see him in any adverts. I bet the Fiasco Verdasco and Deliciano get better deals than he does. Am I right?

Re: ROLAND GARROS DAY 7
I agree. I don't find his game particularly fascinating to watch, but I have nothing but admiration for the way he's got absolutely everything out of his natural ability. If only some of the up-and-coming youngsters (Harrison, Dolgopolov, Tomic especially spring to mind) could have the same attitude...

Andy Murray going about things in a very business like manner leading Santiago Giraldo 6-3 5-3. Good stuff so far.

Murray is a million miles better when he's not playing the percentages. If he approached the majority of his matches like this he would have won atleast one USO/AO.

Two absolutely gigantic forehands there from Giraldo - I've only been watching for about 20 minutes, but this guy looks like a pretty good player.

Murray's movement was slightly restricted for the first twenty minutes, but looks not far off 100% now. Good match to watch, Murray unleashing every now and then and Giraldo hitting the odd beauty too.

Re: ROLAND GARROS DAY 7
Haas-Gasquet looks to be heading for a tie-break.
Haas is playing some unbelievable tennis showing every bit of variety. Ripping FHs and BHs, drop shots to pull Gasquet off baseline and then hitting some nice passing shots and ripping FH DTL and closing the point at net.
Joy to watch...

Turns out whenever the topic of biggest forehand in the game has been brought up, Giraldo's name should have been in the mix!

Re: ROLAND GARROS DAY 7
Gasquet is supposed to be mentally frail so will he lose the first set tie-breaker to Haas?

Re: ROLAND GARROS DAY 7
Murray has the break in the third set so it could be ciao for Giraldo.

Andy Murray safely through to the Fourth Round after a straight sets win over Santiago Giraldo. Next up Haas or Gasquet.

Sorry so long in answering.. been out to lunch it is so bliddy hot.,
The only time I have seen him in an advert is with the entire Spanish squad i.e. for MAPFRE insurance but nothing else.. I bet if he got to No. 3/4 they would be all over him. Shame I so agree with you he epitomises to me what is so good about the game.

Re: ROLAND GARROS DAY 7
Nadal is not nearly as great as some people make out. Schwank really has no business being in the 3rd round of a slam, I won't be betting on him to win this tournament this time.

Mathieu exits though with Granollers outlasting the home-grown player in five gruelling sets.

Agreed. A bit like Tommy Haas earlier on where he physically had nothing left to give.
