I really hate this. Last year I doubt anyone expected Nadal to be taken to 5 against Isner or Murray to reach the semi's.

Hmmm... Everyone picking Ferrer to reach the semis so far.

Ferrer has played 10 French Opens, NEVER reached the semis. In fact in 38 Slam participations he only made the last 4 once (which was to be honest because Nadal was injured during the QF).

I know that David's had a good clay season so far, but can he really deliver on the big stage? Interesting question is: if he cannot, who'll take his place? Murray?

I think when you look at Ferrer's draw potential 3rd round with Youzhny who he has beaten on Clay. Granollers being the other Clay specialist in his section hasn't beaten Ferrer. Isner the other seed they have only met on Hard and Ferrer holds a 3-1 advantage.

Against Murray it is 5-4 Murray, but on Clay it is 3-0 Ferrer.

Ferrer has been a bit unlucky with the draw in past years, this year he has a good one and he's one of the best claycourters so he could get to the semis.

ps I think there will be more significant differences of opinion when we reach Wimbledon (maybe). Of course we could all be wrong for Roland Garros, but I think we have all gone more or less with the most probable outcome (which perhaps in reality would make Roland Garros a little boring). I think most would agree a possible Federer v Djokovic semi-final could be interesting. I just feel Djokovic has a little more energy to spare compared to this time last year.

'Bumps' are normally the preserve of that most (ahem) original and erudite of posters, aka jersey - whose claim to fame, AFAIK, is expertly predicting the winner of this year's AO just a month or so after it had ended

Interesting observation re Jersey's prediction.
