Those exhibition matches have really given him a lot of confidence

Hard luck for Federer. He really let this slip of his hands. Losing focus in the 3rd set after steamrolling A-rod in the 2nd. Won 5 more points in total, more winners, good winners:UE ratio, only poor serving in the 3rd set ( < 50% of 1st serves ).

Poor Break-point conversion proved fatal.

Good win for Roddick.

Well Federer deserved the loss for playing the 1st set way too casually, the 3rd set Roddick was still focused and he made sure Fed pay for the focus lapse.

It was a rubbish match in terms of Fed's performance but a good match as Roddick never lost focus inspite of getting streamrolled in 2nd.

I hope Roddick capitalize on this win and get back to top 10, he is an interesting player in the circuit.

I wouldn't get too excited about Roddick, just a daft loss for Federer.

Perhaps the spell is broken?

I almost believed Federer could or wanted to win the double IW/Miami now at 30 but that was maybe not realistic, especially with the 3 tough months ahead. The rest of the week could have killed him. Now I can see a WC for MC with a couple more rounds to warm upon clay instead of killing himself on those slow HC.

Roger really blew it,this loss really sets him back,was hoping he could become no2 before RG or Wimbledon,that could certainly change the dynamics of the draw
I guess he will probably get a wild card for Monte Carlo now

LF, sorry was a bit exasperated with TMF at the time - I'm not mad at all, more like confused - rooting for a particular ratio of wins over losses seems really strange to me!

Fans are insatiable and it is difficult to make them see the 'human' side of the player. He is done very well post-USO. He will bounce back.

Nadal and Nishkori was actually one sided TP. Once Rafa cranked his FH, Nishikori was all over the place.

I think Nishikori does have skills, but he flopped alot of serves.

I can't watch legend - family are all watching Chelsea vs someone or other in the Champions League

Love PF - I like Petchy too, but I love the way that Fleming just every so often pulls rank on the Brits!

Murray starves off another BP. Simon if he had consistency every 3-4 strokes back to back, he could easily be a top 5 player.

My bad the game is 15 minutes long!! Another BP saved.

I think Simon is very talented. He could easily be a better player if he was more aggressive and believed in his shots. At the moment in this match he has played some lovely shots.

decent effort from Murray, but he's never really had any problems with Simon, as he basically does everything that Simon does, but better. Nice match to watch I thought, lots of variations on spins, slices and angles, and Simon produced some stunning running pass winners, but Murray had a bit too much, and after his first service game was never in trouble (don't think he was taken to deuce after that).

how did Nole do NITB? Seems Gasquet pushed him in the first and a more comfortable second (pretty much as expected).

Nole started off perfect, then took his foot off the gas a tiny bit.that's about it, really. Gasquet played well, too.

Gasquet is Gasquet...nice game, lovely strokes...usually loses.

Roddick must have pulled several muscles during his effort to beat Federer yesterday, he's retired from today's match.
