Novak Djokovic v Rafa Nadal

Rafael Nadal came back from 4-1 down in the first set to defeat Juan Martin Del Potro 6-4 6-4 to make this final. The Spaniard has been in great form all week and has hardly been threatened on his serve. This is a big final for the world number one to sohw that he is still the best in the world and to give his confidence not only for Miami next week but for the most important part of his season, the clay court months. Nadal will have to serve very well if he is going to beat the inform Novak Djokovic. The Serbian new world number 2 hasn't lost a match all season yet and won the first Grand Slam of the year in Australia. He has finally got the consistency that I think will make him a contender for world number one later in the year. The Serbian won his 3rd straight match against Roger Federer yesterday and will look to follow that up with a demolishion of Rafa. Both players second serves could be the pivotal difference in this match. This is where both players break point opportunities are going to come from. Djokovic only won 39% of second serves against Gasquet and 54% against Federer, whilst Nadal only 58% 2nd serve winners against Del Potro.

Think Rafa might just edge it but if Novak can get a win then he will have put down a marker for his intention to move forward to try for the number one spot.

His match against Federer last night produced some great tennis and lets not forget Federer played well, so for Novak to win and take the number two spot was no mean achievement 8)

Novak passed the final test he had to pass this season (so far)... and some test it was.
