TYSON FINALLY BACK IN MAINSTREAM!

My all time, number 1 boxing hero Mike Tyson has as it seems been excepted back into the world of mainstream celebrity. When Mike was a young champion who gripped the world's attention like no fighter since Ali, he could be seen advertising for such big corporations such as Coca-cola, he was a prime time guest on every late night talk show going, and was a REAL house-hold name. Mike was part of the celebrity circuit, but of course we all no what transpired afterwards with his downfall. I will leave that part out as we know too well that it can stir up emotions on here so I will continue with Tyson being blacklisted as he was when he came out of prison. Tyson was basically banned from all television programmes and shows. No broadcaster would touch him and he was treated as a criminal and not a man who had paid for his "ahem.ahem crimes".

Now Tyson can be seen giving interview to Oprah, Ellen, he can be seen on Dancing with the stars, Sky sports news, BBC news and even has his own show on Animal planet called facing Tyson. The man has gone full circle and I say good for him. This shows that society is forgiving and maybe we never really believed he did it in the first place.

As programmes go, seeing whether or not you can breed a better racing pigeon than Mike Tyson ranks right up there with "Pole Dance like Anne Widdecombe"

Harsh as it sounds, I think the family tragedy Tyson suffered also mellowed people's reactions to him. Nobody would wish that on anyone.

Interesting interview with Tyson in last Saturday's Times Newspaper magazine.

He does sound like his matured a fair bit and mellowed also.

He also admitted what a selfish and sometimes nasty so and so he was in the past.

His daughter died, KB. Sometime last year, if I remember rightly.

Yeah, she was about four years old, I believe she died after becoming tangled in some kind of cable or something-strangulation/choking. Awful thing to have happen, whoever you are.

Yes it was terrible i'm sure she was strangled from the cable on the treadmill, i've always liked Mike and he was starting to chill out a year or so before this accident which makes me feel even more sorry for him. The guys had enough issues throughout his life without having do deal with that, he seems to have dealt with it but at first feared it may have finished him. I seen him interviewed by a female not long after and not a word was mentioned on the matter, it made me wonder if she even knew such is the negative factor surrounding him all the time. I don't ever want to know what it felt like thats for sure.

Why would you bring a family tragedy up like that in an interview and open up old wounds..

Any professional wouldn't have mentioned it.........

I disagree with the family tragedy bringing him back although there might be a little something in it...more to do with people reminiscing how good the Tyson years were and let's face it when he was champion everybody talked Boxing and it was hot...

It was only a month or two after, i didn't want her to get him to go through all the details of the death, just maybe say she was sorry for his loss, it wasn't a planned interview she just grabbed him on the off chance and started asking him stupid questions and was all hyper and excited, she obviously didn't know about his loss, thats what annoyed me, wasn't really her fault but she was an idiot anyway.

I didn't say the family tragedy was the sole factor, but it certainly makes people reassess their approach to an individual. Doesn't matter how much someone is the bad guy, a genuine tragedy always stirs emotions.

If she say's sorry for the loss it brings it all up again for him..

I found my sister dead when I was a kid from an allergic reaction..Talking about it was the last thing I wanted to do..

Fact is Tyson is welcomed back because.............

1. He's the only guy to transcend the sport in the last twenty years..

2. He's a massive personality.

3. He grabbed Boxing by the balls and made alot of money for other guys at other weights!! Boxing owed Tyson and hopefully now he's getting his due credit.

Calm down Truss, no need to be so bullish about it. The mainstream now don't really give much of a rat's ass about how Tyson transcended the sport-the casual viewers and non-boxing fans still know him as being 'that naughty person', and THAT's a hard tag to shake off.

If she did know she SHOULD have said she was sorry for his loss, i know people did to me seeing as how you want to bring that stuff up, wouldn't be nice to just pretend nothings happened. She didn't know about the death, and no interview was planned. It was only a month or two after, you could see he was distressed, but handled it like a gentleman, she only knew it was Mike Tyson and grabbed him at some stupid event he was attending, now THAT was unproffesional, a bit like youself. I can't believe a grown man is trying to get one up on me. Grow up.

All I did was point out it's impolite to bring up raw fresh family tragedies.

It's more impolite to treat the person in question as if nothing has happened. A little graciousness doesn't hurt.

And all i said was if she knew it would have been nice for her to say she was sorry for his loss, and not be so disrespectful and amatuerish in her interview.

Exactly, but like i say he was ambushed and she was very unprofessional. Maybe he shouldn't have been out in public so soon but maybe he should have been shown more respect.

I think he did miss the point Baltimora, i kind of know what he's trying to say but that was the time for a sorry and not for what he got, it doesn't even matter if people hate him he must be given a bit respect at such a time.

Tyson was a product of his environment. Every person he met and got to trust hd only their interests at heart and couldn't care less for Mike. Starting with D'Amato. He was never giveries and grew up a practically ferrel child then adult.

Even during the tumultuous times, and oon quiet reflective moments, he seems a sincere guy.
