Three Lions
As in the track by the Lightning Seeds featuring Baddiel and Skinner.
The discussion between myself and a few mates was whether it was a hit on merit, or was it a hit because of the circumstances around it.
Having listened to the song recently, I think it was overhyped because of the Euro 96 tournament/World Cup 98, but I was told it's a great song.
What do the 606v2 public think?

Re: Three Lions
Its a good song, though as you mentioned, its appeal is limited by all the references to past players and previous tournaments.
Still a great one to trot out at World Cup and Euro finals, but its not something I'd have on my Walkman.
I rate it as the second best football song ever, behind New Order's World In Motion.

Re: Three Lions
I love the Lightning Seeds and I love that song!
It's another one that me and my people with learning disabilities like to sing along to, in the car.
"That England's Gonna throw it away,
Gonna blow it away,
But know they can play,
'Cause I remember...
Three Lions on a shirt,....."
It's definitely a hit on merit.....coz I bl**dy hate football!

It's not a patch on Vindaloo or Jerusalem.

I think it's not a patch on every other Lightning Seeds hit!
Pure, Sugar Coated Iceberg, Life of Riley, Lucky You to name but four.

Now Vindaloo IS faecal matter of the purest quality!
I love Jerusalem but I don't get why its played at sporting events. I reckon it'd make a corking national anthem though...FAR better than the cringeworthy "God Save the Queen".
