Match 1: Pune vs RCB: Jadjea bowls a tight first over, only going for 3 runs. However with pace on the ball, the ball flys round the park. Pune get 50 in the powerplay, with Valthathy getting 39 off them himself. The scoreboard reguarly ticks over and Pune rack up 180. In the chase Dernbach and Thomas take early wickets, with their slower balls, and yorkers, rcb always behind the rate, fall 18 runs short, as wickets tumble reugarly.: PUNE WIN

Match 2: KKR vs Chennai: KKR get off to a good start, with the openers hitting, theron and bravo everywhere. However when the spinners come on its a different story. The chennai spinners get 7 wickets between them, and KKR limp to 140. Shakib gets KKR off to a great start getting, Vijay and Badrinath in his first over, however Hussey remains unflustered, and with bravo, afridi and dhoni all making useful contributions, they get home with an over to spare: CHENNAI WIN

Match 3: Mumabi vs Kings eleven: Malinga and Harbajhan get, gambhir and Kieswetter early. KP and Akmal put on a good partnership, KP having a very good day, to the suprise of the mumbai coach, and he gets 70 not out. Kings get to 160. In the chase Murali kartik gets tendulkar early, however rohit and Manoj put on a good parntership, wickets start tumbling and leave Van der merwe needing 18 off the last over, and he can only get 16, falling 2 runs short. KINGS ELEVEN WIN.

Match 4: Rajasthan vs Kochi: Rajasthan never get going batting first. Power keeps the rate down, only going at 5 an over in his bowling spell. Vettori and Chawla pick up wickets all the way through, and kochi require 120 to win. Kochi get off to a poor start and are reeling at 74-6 from 12 overs. However a good partnership between Taylor and vettori see kochi home off the last ball. : KOCHI WIN

Match 5: My match, come on DECCAN!

Week 7 Matches
- work in prog, will add in more matches tomorrow. All the matches are tough to call this week, they definitely need thought.

Match 1 - Pune Warriors vs Royal Challengers Bangalore - Toss won by PW who bat first. On a batting paradise Pune get away to a flyer and Kohli and Yuvraj rack up big scores. On such a good pitch the RCB bowlers are bystanders and PW finish with a big score. In reply the RCB openers are under pressure to score heavily from the start, but get away to a reasonable start before both fall to Mathews. Taylor and Devilliers pick up the cudgel and build a good partnership that sets teh platform for the rest of RCB's long batting line up to blast away. RCB win by 2 wickets with 2 balls to spare

Match 2 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Chennai Super Kings - Toss won by KKR

Match 3 - Mumbai Indians vs Kings XI Punjab - Toss won by KXIP

Match 4 - my match

Match 5 - Delhi Daredevils vs Deccan Chargers - Toss won by DC

Pune batting is very strong.I can see them posting a huge score against a RCB attack which I think will struggle on a flat pitch. In the chase Thomas gets a couple of early wkts and despite a good knock from ABDV RCB are never in the chase.Swann takes charge when the pitch starts turning and RCB fall short despite ABDV.

KP relishes the challenge of a tough pitch and an international class Mumbai attack and brings out his belligerent best against an international class attack and a coach who hates him.He scores an sensational hundred as Gul and Malinga after an excellent tournament finally have an off day and KP punishes them.He is well supported by Gambhir. The rest of the batsmen struggle a bit at the death after Gambhir gets out but KP holds fort at one end right till the end and his hundred carries KXIP to a matchwinning 175.Bres strikes early to get rid of Dhawan and Murali Kartik dismisses Dilshan and despite a valiant effort by the great man Sachin and the talented Rohit,Mumbai fall an agonising 5 runs short as the rest of the batsmen struggle once Rohit gets out.

Rajasthan bat first.Watson falls early but the brilliance of Sanga and Dravid and the ability of their subcontinent heavy middle order and lower middle order to play spin propels them to 140.McCullum falls early to Watson.Mahela and VVS try to resurrect the innings but they bat a tad too consciously leaving them at the start and when they realise they have to accelerate Warney comes on and outfoxes Mahela and gets rid of Brendan Taylor as well.VVS continues to hold fort but the rest of the batsmen struggle and Warney and Botha as Kochi fall short by 20 runs.

Aaron and McDonald cut through the Deccan top order as Deccan are 25/3-losing each of their top 3.Dussey and White resurrect the innings for a bit but Dussey gets out as soon as a spinner comes onto bowl(price in the 9th over) but White carries on his good work and he and Miller lead the Deccan fightback and a brilliant 85 not out from White and a 50 from Miller takes Deccan to 160.In reply its Sehwag's turn. After a lean tournament he turns it on on a pitch that suits him(not much bounce or movement but the ball skidding onto the bat).He gives the exceptional Dale Steyn due respect by just blocking him off but absolutely manhandles the other bowlers including Tahir as he hits an unbelievable 110 not out form 50 balls as Delhi race home with 3 overs to spare.

Post by Guest Mon 31 Oct 2011, 12:21 pm

Jesus, toughest week to call!

Match 1 - Pune win. Purely for Swann's allotment in the second innings, along with Dernbach they have the ability to keep things tight, despite a sterling effort by the RCB chase.

Match 2 - By far the hardest match to call in my opinion, both sides are set up well, but going to back Kolkata on this one. Chennai have a dearth of excellent spinners, but KKR's triplet of Ojha, Murali and Bishoo are miserly and keep Chennai quiet despite a certain Afridi coming to the party briefly.

Match 3- Gone with Mumbai in another close game. They have some excellent chasers and are led by the little master to victory.

Match 4 - Kochi, thanks to a sterling effort by Danny V. It's a close game this, again, but I like Kochi's line up and think their spinners will trump the Royals, but only just.

Match 1-My match

Match 2 KKR vs CSK- Going for a CSK win here. KKR post a very respectable score despite some brilliant bowling from the CSK spinners, Morgan being the key man. Despite a valiant effort from KKR in the field, Afridi and Ashwin get CSK home. CSK WIN

Match 3 Mumbai vs King XI Punjab-Very close match here.Kieswetter goes early, Pietersen goes very well in the Power Play but is caught on the boundary when looking well set. Gambhir and the middle order play well looking in a good position but expert death bowling really restrics the total. Bresnan gets the massive wicket of Tendulkar, but Dilshan is able to rebuild. Bipul Sharma bowls impressively, leaving Pollard and Harby in as the last over begins. Pollard manages to get Mumbai home with a 4 off the 2nd to last ball of the innings. MUMBAI WIN

Match 4 RR vs Kochi-RR winning the toss is crucial here imo. Watson decimates RP Singh in his two opening overs but the spin attack strangles him and he goes. Dravid and Sangakarra do a good job of nurdling the spinners, but a middle over collapses ensues with these two going and Karthik holing out. Razzaq is forced to re-build with Uthappa, not their natural game. But it works, Razzaq firing in the last 3 overs in particular. Kochi come close with Jayawardene and Taylor performing well but when they go, the Kochi innings peters as Razzaq's innings proves crucial RR WIN

Match 5 Decann Chargers vs Delhi Daredevils-Aaron and McDonald get early wickets for the Daredevils. The Australian pairing of Hussey and White bat well but Arafat gets rid of Hussey in his 1st over. White and Miller attack for 4 overs, but McDonald strikes removing White. Despite their best efforts, Miller and Wagh struggle to get some tight death bowling away. Steyn looks very dangerous early on, but only manages to get rid of Warner. Sehwag blasts his way through the rest of the attack with Taylor nurdling the spinners around. Sehwag eventually goes, but to finish off a fine all-round performance McDonald hits the winning runs. DELHI WIN
