Welcome to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium home of the Royal Challengers Bangalore

Form

Royal Challengers Bangalore - L

Mumbai Indians - W

Pitch Conditions: A dry pitch with a few cracks in it. Spinners will get some purchase. There will also be some inconsistent bounce which will help the quicker bowlers.

-----

Please post tactics below:

RCB

Toss: Bowl first

1) Abhinav Mukund
2) Shaun Marsh
3) Manish Pandey
4) AB De Villiers
5) Saurabh Tiwary
6) Ravrinda Jadeja
7) Steve O'Keefe
8) Mitchell Johnson
9) Stuart Broad
10) Amit Mishra
11) Vinay Kumar

Bowlers

Mitchell Johnson- 4 overs
Stuart Broad- 4 overs
Vinay Kumar- 2 overs
Amit Mishra- 3 overs
Ravrinda Jadeja- 3 overs
Steve O'Keefe- 4 overs

Bowl
first and try restrict Mumbai down to 140 or less. A new look RCB side
comes in after the disappointing loss against Kolkata. Going to play 6
bowlers and leave out Tharanga. Jadeja, O'Keefe and Mishra should get
some spin while Johnson. Broad, Kumar and Johnson looking for that
uneven bounce. Broad and Johnson will the open the bowling with Kumar
following suit, O'Keefe Jadeja and Mishra will bowl the middle overs,
Kumar will then come on with Broad and Johnson bowling the latter overs.
The seamers will look to bowl on a consistent length, throwing in the
odd slower ball and yorker each over.

When it's our turn to bat,
Mukunds role will be to get the ones and twos while Marsh will look to
explode at the top. Pandey and Tiwary are used to the Indian conditions
and should well against the uneven bounce and spin. De Villiers and
Marsh also brilliant players of spin so also should deal well with the
conditions. Strong batting all the way down to 10 means we're unlikely
to behind the rate and if we are can take a risk knowing that there's
plenty of batting to come.

If we can restrict Mumbai down to 140, I see this being a easy chase for us with the depth in our batting.

Mumbai Indians

Toss: Bat first

1) Chris Nash
2) Sachin Tendulkar (c)
3) Dinesh Chandimal
4) Rohit Sharma
5) Harpreet Singh
6) Cheteshwa Pujara
7) Abishek Raut
8) Harbajhan Singh
9) Umar Gul
10) Lasith Malinga
11) Monty Panesar

After
a very convincing first week victory the confidence of the Indians is
very high. However, several changes have been made this week to combat
the spinning conditions. We bat all the way down to 8 with both Gul and
Malinga able to hit out if necessary. We will bat first if we win the
toss so that we can post a target that will be beyond the RCB batting
line up.

Batting: Sachin and Nashy will open with Nash taking the
initative and showing why he's so good in this form of the game. With
the big hitting Chandimal at 3 we would be looking to score 55+ off of
the powerplay overs and therefore taking both Broad and Johnson out of
the game. Sachin will have no problem whatsoever with the slight uneven
bounce and is relishing the chance to dismantle both Broad and Johnson
as he does previously. The middle order of Rohit, Hapreet, Pujara and
Raut are all brilliant in these conditions especially against spinners.
We believe this should get us to 160-170+.

Bowling: We will open
up with Harbajhan who will look to get rid of Marsh in the first over as
Shaun Marsh has shown he is more confident with pace on the ball.
Malinga will then bowl two overs in the powerplay with Gul bowling one
as well. Monty P will then come on in order to turn the screws on a
short RCB batting line up. Bowling in the second innings will allow
Monty, Nashy and Raut to get a lot of spin and slow the run rate. We
would hope to have them at least 3 or 4 down by the time that Harbajhan
returns. With Gul and Malinga bowling in tandem we have the best two
death bowlers in t20 cricket who would blitz the lower/middle order of
the RCB team.

Overs:

Harbajhan - 4 overs (1,3,13,15)
Malinga - 4 overs (2,4,17,19)
Gul - 4 overs (5,16,18,20)
Monty Panesar - 4 overs (6,8,10,12)
Raut - 2 overs (7,9)
Nash - 2 overs (11,14)

Tendulkar goes though and a lot of pressure on the young shoulders of Sharma. Broad and Johnson should have no trouble against there top order. Hopefully... haha

I wouldn't say Pollard is uselss against spin. Good spin will undo him but their is always the opportunity that he will get going for 2/3 overs, and those three overs could take the game away from you. He would always be in my side no matter the conditions! Plus I rate his bowling highly in this format.

Week 2 - Match 5 - Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians - Both teams submitted Empty Re: Week 2 - Match 5 - Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians - Both teams submitted

Stats don't really show why tho.

Harby bowls mainly in the powerplays and death overs for Mumbai in real life, Mishra bowls predominantly in the middle overs.

I want Mishra to bowl in the middle-overs so that's fine.

It was awesome thanks mate, got a big party for it (she's 21) on Friday so that'll be cool. My main present to her was tickets to see legally blonde in the west end so she's still really excited about that.

I wanted Chandy as he's a better player of spin (and he's under 25)

Uneven bounce, hello Mitchell Johnson?

If anything Malinga would suit this pitch more than Gul.
