Commonwealth gold medallist Hannah Miley features amongst a 33-strong British team to face Germany in Essen this weekend.

Miley, who won the 400m individual medley in Delhi last year, will be joined by fellow Commonwealth medallists Georgia Davies, Jaz Carlin and Robbie Renwick in the annual head-to-head.

Jemma Lowe, who set a new British record en-route to claiming 200m butterfly silver at the World Short-Course Championships in December to add to her bronze in the 100m event in India, is also involved.

There are also a number of promising swimmers, such as Amelia Maughan who at 14 is already a world-class prospect.

"I'm looking forward to the meet at the weekend," said head coach Dennis Pursley. "We have a good mix of both top ranked and development team swimmers.

"It is a multi-purpose trip for us. Many will experience this level of competition for the first time and for everyone taking part it will be a good opportunity to tune up before the British Gas Swimming Championships in March.

"The whole meet is a quick, 'in and out' trip so training won't be interrupted."

The meet will see winners of each race scoring five points, second place three points and one point for third-place finishers.

The winning teams in the relay will receive double points and the nation with the most points will be crowned victors of the event.

Great Britain will be hoping to repeat their efforts in Swansea last year when they enjoyed an emphatic victory.
