World of Warcraft
First topic message reminder :
Seeing as the COD guys have their own thread I thought it was about time there was one for what is frankly THE best game of all time.
At present I'm levelling a goblin hunter (beast mastery and with a raptor pet) but normally I play a gnome frost mage.

It's still 8.99 a month
My Mrs isn't keen on me going back on, but needs must. It's only hardcore for the first three months anyway. Then for me its just late night night weekend raiding.

I went back last month I leveled up a Blood Elf Death Knight on Thunderhorn. Sadly after a long absence it seems all my friends have also quit playing. I wasn't looking forward to gearing it but after 4 Twilight heroics all I need is 1 ring to be fully epic, and all the epics I have are level 378. The luck I had with drops and rolls was astounding. Every melee plate item dropped for me first time.
Iv'e paid for MoP so will give it a chance but I hate questing I always level up through dungeons so I guess it will be a long slog.

I'm the opposite I have always enjoyed leveling. I will probley level my main a rouge to 90 And then start on a monk. I was reading a interview with one of the blizzard devs about the new dynamics in raids that will surprise players. Looking forward to seeing this.

Yeah level 90 in the expansion. They have also introduced the pet battle system so you can fight other people's pets with your own. It sought of sounds a bit like pokemon within WOW

Haha, I had a quick look at some of the beta videos on line and it looks pretty good.
They have also compleatly overhauled the talent tree system. I have been tinkering with it and have gown 15k dps to 7k so need to sought that.

Re: World of Warcraft
Do you know anyone still playing Fists, If so ask them to send you a scroll of res, it will give you 7 days free play, a boost from lvl 1 to 80 or free transfer to another realm.

Re: World of Warcraft
I already used one about 4 months ago and messed it up by transferring to a different realm to them by accident. Presumably if someone different sent me one I wouldn't be able to use it now?

I think its limited to one scroll recived per account.

Re: World of Warcraft
I've started to move my characters over to the Horde side, though MoP is full of frustrating bugs at the moment. So many pug groups I go in are falling apart due to tecnical issues outside of our control.
An hour ago a group fell apart because the group leader was unable to turn the loot system off free for all so people got accused of being ninjas etc.
Finally now it is so much experience to level up you can't do it the old fashioned way and grind / dungeon your way up, your basically forced into questing which a lot of people detest.
I've tried MoP but will likely quit once my subscription runs out and I find I can't log in for more than a few hours before I get bored anymore. They have ruined the game to be honest.

Re: World of Warcraft
Looks intresting going back to a 10 level expansion so more content. I'm not sure I like the idea of getting a toon straight to level 90 if you choose a healer or tank and don't know any of the dynamics of play it could get a bit messy in dungeons and raids.
I was more interested in hearthstone news and can't wait for release on the ipad, I have been luck enough to get a beta key about a month ago and love this game.

Is Hearthstone going to be on iPad? Not played it yet but have seen a mate play it and it looks up my street as a MTG fan.

Re: World of Warcraft
Yeah, it is going to released on iPad and android devices, no date for release on them. But the game goes into open beta sometime in December so I expect it to be then to get rid of any glitches.
The game is very good and not the cash cow I thought it would be. I have managed to only spend about £15 on arena runs and card packs. And earned the rest of my cards from doing daily missions and arena rewards.

Re: World of Warcraft
Just had a read about the latest expansion. Must admit, the thought of players instant boosting to level 90 would rather annoy me if I were still playing. Whilst I can see why Blizzard have done it in response to falling player numbers, it is surely going to lead to more than a few horror shows in dungeons and raids.
Re: World of Warcraft
I don't see a big issue. Everyone has to learn sometime.

Re: World of Warcraft
Yeah, and you should learn as you level. Clowns not knowing their class as a result of relaxed Blizzard policies in recent expansions really harmed the game in my opinion. I don't mind if they're casual players, but those intending to raid should do it properly. It just ends up wasting everyone's time.
Re: World of Warcraft
Hey Fists, I agree and disagree in some measure. In so far as you should learn as you level I think you are absolutely right and a skip straight to level cap does feel a little unsavoury. In this particular games case I have less of an issue (not that it matters since I ain't played in 5yrs) mainly due to my feeling that Blizzard have never been great at teaching the players how to play the game even through levelling anyway. Maybe thats just me though.Fists of Fury wrote:Yeah, and you should learn as you level. I'm really looking forward to Hearthstone, very jealous that Randy has Beta access. I've had to make do with watching streams and MMOBuff's stream on the game and all the news they give.
As for MMO's going forward I've been waiting patiently for Wildstar to get released, I was hoping that SWTOR would hold my interest till its release and there was even the hope that game might even keep me beyond. Yet SWTOR was doomed after month or two at best and mainly due to its pathetically easy endgame. Not sure how many of you know of Wildstar but I'd very much advise checking it out if you want another MMO experience.

Re: World of Warcraft
Unless blizzard can give people a crash course on the mechanics of the class in 10 levels there is going to be a lot of angry raids. Even progressing through high level dungeons will be difficult with people not knowing what to do.

Re: World of Warcraft
You'll have a greater insight than me really on where the game is and how it will effect it, especially with the LFR tool such a prominent thing these days. I can't really comment to much these days as things may have changed a fair amount with the levelling process where Blizzard did add more into teaching players while levelling.randy-poffo wrote:Unless blizzard can give people a crash course on the mechanics of the class in 10 levels there is going to be a lot of angry raids. Yeah fell in really lucky and got a beta key in the first batch of invites in the UK. Don't know if it was because Im still a subscribed member of wow.
I was a lot happier before the wipe I had a nice mage deck and was progressing through the ranks nicly, I'm still a couple of cards away from where I was.
I do enjoy the arena side of the game more though.

Much of a single player element to it randy? Any thing resembling a story?

No none at all apart from the guide at the beginning. It's all multiplayer, two different type of multiplayer options either created deck play or arena play.
At blizzcon it was mentioned that there are working on implementing a quest style single player mode.

Thanks, must keep an eye out for it. Take it arena is a random deck type affair?
Like the look of the game play and strategy, could fill a hole as whilst I really enjoyed Warcraft I can't face the time sink that it is again.

I play Alliance. Currently have an ilev 538 'lock on Eonar and have just had to leave my beloved guild, Madidus, due to it dying, basically. Im thinking I can pick and choose my next guild due to my ilev, but which one to choose??

Na it's still doing ok, though we now have server mergers, which means we still have all the old servers but their linked because there are so few players now. The old days of Wotlk are long gone sadly, I liked this expansion though, though to be fair I've hardly left my garrison.
